QB Cardale '12 Gauge' Jones (B1G Champion, National Champion)

Gotta love a scout who (anonymously) calls someone stupid by using the nonsensical, moronic phrase "not the brightest cookie in the world."

On a more serious note I've never thought Cardale wasn't a smart guy. He's always seemed very thoughtful. Obviously he had to work through some immaturity issues, and still might to some extent, but I definitely wouldn't call him dumb.
Definitely doesn't seem "dumb" by any stretch. He has had moments of immaturity and probably will have more. I'm so glad things like Twitter didn't exist when I was his age, because the things I did and said we're so much worse than anything he's done meanwhile I was so much less exposed. I can't imagine what it would be like to be his age with the level of maturity that I had, and have thousands of people actually paying attention to what I said. If that it happened, I'm quite positive my current situation would be considerably worse. I'd be unhireable I'd imagine.

Gruden: Cardale Jones Didn't Fit Ohio State Offensive System

Despite looking like a world beater in the 2014 postseason, the 2015 season showed that maybe quarterback Cardale Jones was a square peg in Ohio State's round hole offense.

Try as it might last season, the Buckeye offense just couldn't consistently recapture the magic of that three-game championship run the year before.

That didn't stop Cardale Jones from leaving early for the NFL Draft, however, and it may have actually made his decision clearer for him.

Speaking with the media on Thursday about the upcoming draft, ESPN NFL analyst Jon Gruden said that he likes what Jones has to offer, even if he didn't get to offer much of it in OSU's offensive system.

"Well, obviously the size, the arm strength, the nickname, '12-Gauge,' and the athletic ability impressed me," Gruden said. "I saw him jump over a guy a few years ago against Maryland, and I said, 'Who the hell is that guy?' And then I saw the arm strength in the playoffs and I said, 'I've got to meet this young man.'

"He has a 36-inch vertical jump, 250-plus pounds, he can run under 4.8, and he has a rocket for an arm. I just don't think that the offensive system was set up for drop-back passing type quarterback. Ohio State under Urban Meyer does an unbelievable job with the quarterback using him as a runner. You can look at Braxton Miller and Tim Tebow and go on and on, and J.T. Barrett, and you'll see that that is a fact."

Just sayin': Hindsight is 20/20; but I really feel kind of sorry for Cardale that he didn't "go pro" last year. He was projected to be drafted in an early round last year and now he looks like a late round pick. Obviously that decision is costing him millions of dollars. I sincerely hope he catches on with a NFL team and has a long NFL career (even if it is as a 2nd or 3rd string QB).
