I wonder how those big boys do in hurricanes? We could use a few to munch on the nutria population that is destroying the marsh. Of course the cajuns would figure out someway to make gumbo out them.

I was referring to to the snakes, we got plenty of gators. I have eaten fried rattlesnake back in AZ a long time ago.
I was initially confused as well. The snake is bent at a 90 degree angle, and you can see the gators tail and feet sticking out.
The scientists are kind of worried because these pythons-apparently there are quite a few released in the Everglades, might take over from gators as the top of the line predators in the ecosystem. I'd rather see a cobra or a rattler near me than one of those monsters any day.
"There had been some hope that alligators can control Burmese pythons," Mazzotti said. "This indicates to me it's going to be an even draw. Sometimes alligators are going to win and sometimes the python will win."
