Name it Shithead, not Lifesaver.

We have a mutt (Shepherd, Collie and Lab).... great dog. We used a crate when he was puppy and it worked great. If the dog knows that that is his *room* then he is less likely to go to the bathroom in it. He'll wait until he gets let out... or at least wait as long as he possibly can.

As far as a name... use anything but a human name. I hate when people name their pets Sally or Joe.

Nothing has really jumped out at me (sorry KuJo)... and sometime soon we need a name for this critter.

My favorite dog name would be Bowser.

Also, I like Yertle's idea of Sloopy.

Hershey is OK, however that name seems to be more appropriate for a chocolate colored (brown) dog.

The important thing is that the abandoned dog gets a good home. If anyone else is interested in a dog or cat, there are literally 1000s of them out there in shelters, pounds, & rescue organizations. etc. just waiting for adoption.

Crates are great.. but consider a plastic crate... easier to cart around and put in car for trips... much safer for the dog on a trip... my youngest furry kid loves her crate... we keep the door open... and she goes in when she wants to nap... it's her safehaven...

Others have said this, but I'll echo the thought- definately crate train the pooch. It worked like a dream with ours (Golden Retriever). And make sure you keep plenty of toys for her to chew on handy, so that she doesn't get bored and chew up your stuff.

People who leave animals by the road, or dump them out of cars are heartless bastards. I'm glad that you came across this little puppy and are going to give her the good life that she deserves.

From the second set, Chloe had been considered and isn't out of the running... (spitfire is fun but seems masculine; I tried ariel and it got shot down, so much for maintaining my puppy love for that aquatic girl)
