Premier League (Official Thread)

Spurs are sure having a fun time at Loftus Road today. QPR are defending like hounds. Much easier to do so when the highest playing player isn't even near the halfway line.

QPR parked the bus and got their point. Spurs didn't play at a high enough tempo to really threaten them either. Julio Cesar made a couple brilliant saves early and that seemed to break their will to attack.

I've been busy most of the day since the end of the match, but I bet that the English media have been prattling on about 'arry getting one over on his old club. Nevermind that Spurs got more out of this fixture than they did last season, and that if they had managed a draw instead of a loss Redknapp would have kept his job and taken them to the Champions League.

RVP opens the scoring against Liverpool. That's not something we haven't seen before or anything. Could easily see United putting 3 or 4 past them today.

United go up 1-0 into the half. Should probably be up at least 2-0, maybe 3-0, but that's how things go. Absolutely dominant, especially in the midfield. Carrick looking imperious.

Liverpool are getting handled in every facet of the game. Absolutely nonexistent in midfield as Joe Allen has been pretty awful. They're getting the ball to the wings in the final third here & there, but they have only gotten off one cross (All blocked) and it was an off balance prayer of one at best. Suarez is getting no help as he's up top all alone surrounded by red jerseys. Might be dialing up Sturridge sooner or later.

Patrice Evra heads in off a RVP set piece cross. That's not something you see every game. Glen Johnson just let him run past him & didn't even come close to catching him at the far post. That was putrid defending on his part.

Edit: Goal was credited to Vidic as Evra's header slightly deflected off of Vidic's face before going in.

Didn't take long for Liverpool to respond. Gerrard won the ball back deep & his good shot was pushed out by de Gea only for Sturridge to pounce on the rebound to open his BPL account for his new club. Game on.

United win 2-1 in a tightly contested affair. A tale of two halves really. United dominated up until they were 2-0 up, but Liverpool came storming back & were really on the front foot for pretty much the rest of the game. They looked much better when Sturridge came on at half time, although he did manage to send several shots wide & into the side netting after his goal, which is nothing new for him. Now onto Arsenal vs. Man City.

Liverpool played a great 30 minutes of football... unfortunately, the match is 90 minutes long so there's that. The first half just didn't look at all like Liverpool, they were timid and not at all agressive and it showed, Reina earned his paycheck today, though for some reason he's been in a lot of trade rumors lately, I think he'll remain with the reds.

One more note, how Arsene Wenger still has a job is beyond me, everytime I see RVP and he scores I just get confused... if that guy is on my team I find a way to make it work, I don't let him go and I sure as hell don't let him go to a team I will have to face twice a year.

The penny-pinching corporate fuckwads that run the club sell players, Wenger just enables them.

Sturridge not on the pitch for the blues just confuses me.

He's money well spent for Liverpool though, three games, three goals and they look completely different with an additional striker. Nice ball distribution last night but then again, they were playing Norwich, let's see how they look next week against Arsenal.
