Premier League (Official Thread)

Swansea have signed Pablo Hernandez from Valencia, pending a medical. What a steal for Swansea. Laudrup sure loves those La Liga players.

Sounds like the Hugo Lloris transfer to Spurs is off. It sounded like it was a done deal earlier in the day & now it looks like it's not going to happen. More to come from this I'm sure.

Carroll to West Ham on loan, with an option to buy after this year. Decent move for WH, lol at Liverpool spending 35 million pounds and then loaning the player out after 18 months.

Is Carroll an asshat in the locker room or something?

Tottenham close to signing Joao Moutinho and Hugo Lloris. [censored]. Getting rid of Dos Santos in the process.

Spurs are getting better.

I'm still trying to catch up this morning, but I'm seeing chatter that Spurs may be hijacking the Berbatov move to Fulham?

That's very interesting. He was excellent when he was with Spurs, and then mugged off the club worse than Modric. I had seen some "would you take him back chatter" this summer, but Levy was pretty outspoken about Berbatov when he left and many suspected he still held a grudge.

Also, I'm blown away by that the club was still in on Moutinho after securing Dembele. It makes sense though the more I think about it. They have been fairly quiet over the last several window, and have sold more than they've brought in. In the last year alone, if you add Modric to Keane, Crouch, and the other spare parts they've sold, they've brought in close to 90 million GBP, and so far this summer have spent only about half of that. If you add in a couple more departures today, it means Spurs could be laying out as much as 60 million today without going into the red - or so it would seem.

Looks like van der Vaart is on his way to Hamburg. Makes all the sense in the world, but still makes me sad. Good luck to him.

Joao Moutinho should make you happier then

At least Gio Dos Santos finally gets his release and gets the hell out of there (returning to Spain).

I hadn't got to that one yet. I figured it was coming, but I was hoping he'd get another chance with Spurs. Maybe he'll always be one of those players that's always better for country than club, but I thought he could do a job in the PL if he ever got the minutes.

Brendan Rodgers (new Liverpool manager) favors pass and move, quick play. Carroll cannot:

1. Pass
2. Move
3. And is slow as molasses

LOL!

I just know he is strong and is a large target, plus he is a monster in the air on set pieces. But, now that I read your post it occurs to me that I can't remember a single time he set up a teammate or got loose behind the back line.
