Premier League (Official Thread)

Looks like Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon is supposedly stepping down tommorow after allegations of swinging board member votes during a vote of confidence during Real's rough stretch which saw former manager Bernd Schuster lose his job late last year.

Is it anything like this?

The streamers bit during corners is incredibly lame and poor form if you ask me. That wouldn't fly anywhere else in the world -- or any other sport in the US for that matter.

Are you kidding me. Streamers, baloons, paper and god knows what else sail onto the pitch at games all across the world. Not so much in the big leagues in europe, but in South America, the smaller leagues in Eueope that is common place.

according to former U.S Internationals, Costa Rican fans were noted to have spat on and thrown bags filled with urine onto players taking corner kicks.

As reported earlier, Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has stepped down as well as a few other board members amid pressure from reported corruption within the club.

Like this is news that Real Madrid is a dirty and corrupt club. I had no idea it would be this bad and far reaching.

That stuff all falls on the field... it's not thrown on the field directly with the intent of changing a game -- in any respectable sporting league --
without a big stink being made.
The next time somebody is taking a freethrow at an NBA game, try throwing a streamer at him and we'll see how long it takes for you to get kicked out.

So you're taking your cues from Costa Rica ... hmmm. I think that makes my point for me.

according to BBC Man City have finished the deal aquiring Craig Bellamy from West Ham. Can anyone confirm this ? apparently Kaka's father is flying in to Milan to discuss the possible record-breaking transfer from AC Milan, doesn anyone actually think Kaka' will agree to the deal ?

What is even ur purpose posting on this thread at all ? You come on here and just bash everything about the EPL even though it's clearly the best and most watched league by FAR in the world. If you're not going to contribute anything positive to this thread I would recommend not posting anything at all. Start up a thread of your own and title it "the most entertaining league in the world: the J-League"

Yes EPL sites are saying that the Bellamy deal is done.

Bellamy completes City move :

Nigel de Jong is also rumoured to be on his way to the Eastlands.

American's think the sport is boring because they don't score 10 goals a game, they need instant gratification (goals) and a fast up and down the field paced game with scoring chances galore (like hockey). Of course the English variant is the standard, how could it NOT be ? the announcers speak English, a few Americans own English clubs and last year the final 4 of the Champions League were all English clubs.

Not to mention the fact that the continental euro leagues are littered with accusations (or findings) of corruption and racism. That isn't going to be "must see TV" for any Yanks.
