Potato Salad Madness in Columbus

OSU_Buckguy

Head Coach
so this columbus resident named zach danger brown initiated a kickstarter asking for $10 to make some potato salad. from tip to toe, that was pretty much his whole plan.

he now stands at almost $10k with about 1400 backers. due to the unexpected response, brown now plans to have a big potato salad party in columbus sometime around labor day for those who give at least $10.

i have pledged $35, which guarantees me a homage t-shirt that celebrates this potato salad experience, my name being called out loud while he's making the potato salad, and other potato salad-related items.

Best potato salad ever, lightly boil potatoes whole with skin so the don't absorb water, when soft remove from water and carefully peel with a fork (they're still very hot), lightly mash, leaving big lumps, sprinkle some vinegar, the juice from one lemon, zest from lemon and salt and peeper. Good stuff.

My great grandmother, who was German, passed down her recipe for German Potato Salad, and despite looking at literally hundreds of recipes online, I've yet to find the same recipe.

It's the best fucking side dish in history. I think she smuggled it out of the country to keep it from falling into Nazi hands.

My wife has a German Potato Salad recipe that has been passed down generations. Ill see if I can get it from here and post it on the site. I am sure its not the same, but everyone always says its not like any German potato salad they have tried before.

Is bacon involved? If so, it's a good bet grandma wasn't in trouble for her Yiddish language tendencies.

Good German potato salad (and I prefer it cold, unlike the way the Krauts seem to like it) is hard to beat.
