yeah, I don't know what's wrong. I hit CTRL and the Insert key (which also has "Prnt Scrn" on it) and then open up "Paint" and if I hit right-click, nothing happens. If I scroll to Paste on the tool bar, it is not highlighted so I can't click on it.

I got it. on my computer, I have to hit CTRL + Fn + Prnt Screen

is that a sony laptop? i know of weird shit like that from Sony, just curious.

yeah, I probably didn't need to hit CTRL. I just did anyway.
