It's an illustration by Chris Foss. I loved his art when I was a kid (and still do).

Wow, that's some pretty cool stuff. I have seen some of that artwork before, I can't remember where, but I think it's different and I like it

Probably on old paperback covers. Foss was all over sci-fi book during the 70's & early 80's.

Yeah I've always loved his style. He gets credited as being the one to first start drawing spaceships with bright colors, patterns & symbols. A lot of artists in the genre list him as a primary influence.

When I was a kid I had copies of the Terran Trade Authority books that feature lots of his art.

This is a picture I took of the sunrise in Sandrock, Alabama. Beautiful place, great for climbing and camping on the top of this mountain lookout. I don't have any shortcuts. Just this picture, and a task bar.
