Possible stamp hike...and foreever stamp.

WASHINGTON Feb 26, 2007 (AP)? The sting of rising postal costs could be eased a bit by the introduction of a "forever" stamp that would remain valid for first-class postage despite future increases.
The independent Postal Regulatory Commission scheduled a Monday morning briefing to announce its ruling on the Postal Service's requests to raise first-class rates 3 cents to 42 cents and to establish the permanent stamp.

I have read somewhere that the postal service is losing money due to everyone doing everything over the web. It's kind of a catch22 for them, I pay everything I can over the web, not solely because of the $.39 but for convenience (although the 39 cents does play a part). They continue to raise rates and that will just drive more people to the web. I don't have a solution but they are shooting themselves in the foot.

Talk about hysterical. Thats the government for you. "We're losing money because of a lower priced alternative - so lets solve it by raising prices!"

And these are the people who are deciding what to do with trillions of our tax money......
