I am not that knowledgable with computers, but every time I sign onto the internet (I use AOL) I get pop-up after pop-up coming up though internet explorer. There are so many that if I leave the computer for a half an hour or so, then there are about a hundred pop-ups waiting for me. Anybody know what I did to make this happen, or what I can do to make it stop?

Ad Aware is a good program and you can also do a Google search for popup blockers that you can install that will automatically block any popups.

Clear your temp internet files, download ad-aware, and download a pop-up blocker.

    Has it all there!

my suggestion is to switch from IE to SlimBrowser. SB is a tabbed browser (you dont get 15 different windows open on your task bar, everything is in one), SB also has a built-in pop up blocker that works great!

All of the above posters are correct, that will get rid of all of your pop up ads.

I wouldn't mind dumping AOL, but it's my parents computer so I'm not going to tell them what to do.

I ran said it didn't find anything. I've downloaded and am running SlimBrowswer and have it as my default browswer. But I am still getting tons of pop-ups opening up in Internet Explorer windows. (I just had 2 pop up right now that I had to close.) I've deleted my Temp folder, run spyware, got a new broswer...but i'm still having stuff pop-up on IE. SOMEBODY SAVE ME! This didn't get really bad until a few days ago.

Go to panicware and DL the free pop up blocker

Then search google for "spyware blaster" and download that

    Problem solved

I've got it under control now I think. I like this new slimbroswer thing too. I still can't figure out why all the pop-ups were going though IE windows when I set SB as my default browser. Thanks for helping me out everyone!
