Sloops,

Outside of my wifes parents and brother, her entire family lives in Conn... heck she was born in Conn...

Nice area of the country... do you take advantage of all the snow skiing available in that part of the country? My wife is pushing for us to buy a cabin somewhere over there (prob. Vermont on a lake) for a vacation home. I'm sure at some point she will win out and we will purchase, however right now I'm more concerned with getting her out of grad school, into the workforce, and pay some debt off (going from two incomes to one income was tough, not to mention the cost of grad school, the cost of the wedding, the cost of a honeymoon, the cost of purchasing and furnishing a home, etc.).

Nutty: "Sloops, I have a good friend that lives in Norwich, or at least he did until recently. You live anywhere near there?"

Nah, I live pretty far away from Norwich, actually. I live in Norwalk, which is in Southern CT right next to Stamford on the NY City/CT border. So basically, I live in an extension of New York City (same TV, radio, newspapers, etc. but in a different state, if that makes sense). Norwich is a hike from here.

Nah, I hate the cold weather. I went up to Vermont once, and never actually went skiing. I stayed in the lodge, got drunk, played pool, and hit on snow bunnies.

I hear ya, my brother - how long have you been married? If you and the wife are ever up here during football season, come on by for a brew and the game. I got a killer surround sound system that's great for Buckeye games.

I don't leave Columbus in the fall... period... (I had a buddy who got married during an OSU football sat... lucky for him his wedding was early afternoon, and the bucks happened to be playing that evening. We went to the wedding, dropped off his gift at the reception, and were gone before he even arrived at the reception... All I can say is I did make it to the wedding, which cut into several hours of tailgating, and I told him I prob. wouldn't be able to make it because I had clients to entertain at the tailgate... they were happy we made it to their wedding, I was happy I still got to go to the game).

However one of these days in the summer we are going to go up and visit her family... don't know how well they would take to me leaving for an evening, but maybe we can work something out.

As it looks right now, I might be in NY city in the middle of June. Maybe we can hookup then? Again, nothing set in stone, however it looks as if that will indeed be the case.

We've been married for almost two years (two years in June)... I waited a couple years after undergrad to ask her for her hand in marriage (if she would have had her way, we would have been married much quicker. We dated for a couple years in college, and after graduation she wanted to get hitched... I wanted to take my time...). My math puts you at about 29 years old. We are close in age, and prob. enjoy similar type bars (you mentioned you like to shoot stick... as do I), If I really do make it over to NYC this June I'll be sure to let you know.

GB: "I don't leave Columbus in the fall... period.."

That's a good policy. My old roomate from OSU (who's also a huge fan) got married this past year in Puerto Rico the night of the OSU-Wisconsin game. We both were pissed that we missed most of the game. He was like, "I do," now lets get back to the hotel and watch the game. We got back just in time for CK's TD pass to MJ to put us ahead, and then Gamble's lapse.

Hey, if you're in town, let me know and we can meet up for a beer and talk some football. New York in the Summertime is a lot of fun.

I'm 28. I'll be 29 next month. What years were you at OSU? What bars did you used to go to?

I didn't go to OSU... I went to OU...

I was born and raised in Columbus (hense my following of the Buckeye's). I didn't miss an OSU home game during my time at OU (not tough given OU's poor team :tongue2: )... Went to OU because at graduation I had never lived in any city outside of UA (Columbus), and I wanted to get out of Columbus for a few years.

Truth be told I might have a sweetheart deal to go on a cruise that leaves NYC on Wed. 6/16/04 at 4:00 pm and returns on Thurs. 6/24/04 at 9:00 am. We are thinking if it works out, we will also stay in NYC on Thurs. 6/24/04 - Sun 6/27/04 (although there are talks of going to Philly or the Jersey shore on the weekend).

Killernut, Mrs. Killernut, gbear, mrs. gbear, and a few other friends would all be on the trip... I doubt the ladies would care if the guys went to a bar to hangout with some buckeyes while they shopped in the City... if all works out I'm also going to see if NYB from BN is up for some beers as well... the only problem is we will not know for sure if it is a "go" until 1-2 weeks before the ship leaves port (the price you pay for getting a huge discount)... at anyrate I'll keep you informed (I'm sure killernut would like to meet you as well... he did go to OSU, as did his brother who is your exact age)...
