Police/Legal Blotter (stop breaking the law, asshole!)

Gosh, Purity, you know what? You're right!
 1. Kirk Ferentz is a courageous soul who really slaps on the discipline at Iowa.
 2. That's why no one there has ever been arrested or gotten in trouble since he arrived.
 3. The sterling discipline is perfectly visible in the courageous (guess that's just an Iowa trait!) way in which Allen despatched that innocent bystander.
 4. Also, Iowa is the top football team in the country and is gonna walk in the 'Shoe and kick the living hell out of the Buckeyes while on the way to the National Championship.
 5. And finally, thanks for speaking so directly in response to the questions people have raised about your team and the very strong and persuasive arguments you have raised.
We're all better off for having had you share your precious time to share wisdom on BP. Thanks so much for coming.

To lighten the mood a little, hilarious reason to get suspended:

Inside the Big Ten

Maybe Dan Connor would be better suited for Crank Yankers than the Nittany Lions.
Penn State's second-leading tackler last year is suspended indefinitely for making prank phone calls to Joe Sarra, a retired assistant coach and longtime friend of Joe Paterno. Jeff Nelson, an athletic department spokesman, told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette the calls, which began in the last spring and lasted through the summer, "escalated to the point of harassment."
Don't think this is just another example of Paterno losing touch. He may not have any idea who The Game is, and may have taken 10 years too long to get hip to a spread offense, but this is an example of down right stupidity on Connor's part and he's being held accountable.
Paterno has already had to deal with enough offseason issues; the near deadly graphite arrow incident, sexual misconduct, drunk driving, underage drinking and an ice-rink fight. He's gone through enough embarrassment with a 26-33 record the last five years. This he won't take. He's making an example out of the outside linebacker -- refusing to answer questions pertaining to his situation and taking him off the depth chart -- be damned if it puts a kink in one of the nation's deepest defenses.
With Connor relegated to the scout team, junior Tim Shaw has been moved from middle to outside linebacker, while redshirt freshman Tyrell Sales takes over Shaw's spot.

Look at your posts and pretend like you weren't attacking us with any of them... and then realize you have no ground on which to ask us not to retaliate on our board.

Are we going to have a civil conversation or simply attack anything I say and attribute it to a Hawkeye fan?

Your posts just beg for retalition. You stirred up shit on two seperate threads: This one, and the "Good LB Thread on BN" thread. You imply that Smith's taking money is equivilent to Allen braking someone's jaw with a cowardly attack. Then you threaten to bring up the Reynolds choking incident (which pales in comparison). Allen's attack on an innocent and unsuspecting bystanding dwarfs Smith's and Reynolds' action in that is was cowardly, brtual, and most of all, fucking criminal. And yet he gets the same suspension as Reynolds and half the suspension of Smith, and you think this is perfectly fine. Then you have the audacity to complain about us putting this back in your face...

Tulsa safety Alexander ineligible for opener

Associated Press

TULSA, Okla. (AP) - Tulsa safety Kedrick Alexander, who was suspended last season after pleading guilty to a burglary charge, missed the season opener against Minnesota on Thursday night after his eligibility was not reinstated by the NCAA.

The school said in a statement that it was appealing Alexander's eligibility status and would have no comment. Alexander, a junior who led the team with 121 tackles in 2003, was not enrolled at Tulsa last fall but did attend classes this spring.

He and another defensive back, Terrance Thomas, were sentenced in August 2004 to deferred sentences of two years unsupervised probation and 120 hours of community service after pleading guilty to second-degree burglary.

Alexander and Thomas admitted breaking into room belonging to a member of the track team and stealing a laptop computer, a video game console and a credit card. The card was used to buy gasoline.

Two Central Michigan players charged with murder

Two Central Michigan players charged with murder

CBS SportsLine.com wire reports http://www.sportsline.com/collegefootball/story/8813734

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- Two Central Michigan football players, including star running back Jerry Seymour, were charged Tuesday in the fatal beating of a 26-year-old man, the Isabella County prosecutor said. <O:p

A third player and a female student also were arraigned on charges stemming from the July 2004 death of Demarcus Graham, Prosecutor Larry Burdick said. <O:p

"We believe we have some of those responsible for Graham's death," Burdick was quoted as saying by CM Life, the Central Michigan student newspaper. <O:p

Seymour, 20, a junior from Miramar, Fla.; and Spencer Lewis, 23, a junior running back from Lathrup Village, were arraigned on one count each of second-degree murder, involuntary manslaughter, assault with intent to do great bodily harm and perjury, Burdick said. <O:p

James Edward Cooper Jr., 22, a senior defensive tackle from Detroit, was charged with two counts of perjury, one count of obstruction of justice and one count of accessory after the fact. Cora Lee Hawkins, 20, a sophomore from Detroit, was charged with one count of perjury. <O:p

All four were arrested Tuesday on warrants that accompanied an indictment issued by Chief Circuit Judge Paul Chamberlain. He set bond at $1 million cash or 10 percent surety on the second-degree murder charges facing Seymour and Lewis and $100,000 cash or surety on all other charges, Burdick said. <O:p

All four suspects were being held Tuesday night in the Isabella County Jail. Burdick said he did not know if they had retained attorneys, but if they hadn't done so by Wednesday or Thursday it was likely lawyers would be appointed for them. <O:p

Graham, of Mount Pleasant, was beaten unconscious outside Shaboom's Pub during a fight on June 25, 2004. He died 19 days later at St. Mary's Hospital in Saginaw. <O:p

Seymour was indefinitely suspended from the Central Michigan team on April 1, two days after he was charged with criminal contempt on accusations he lied to the grand jury. Seymour pleaded no contest and later served 30 days in jail. <O:p

Chippewas coach Brian Kelly said Tuesday that Cooper and Lewis have been indefinitely suspended, and that Seymour's suspension remained in effect.
Four other students, including two former football players, also were charged with criminal contempt in the course of Chamberlain's investigation. Each served 30 days in jail, Burdick said. Contempt charges against former player Anthony Rogers are pending, the prosecutor said.

Mizzou LB suspended for DWI arrest

Mizzou LB suspended for DWI arrest
COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) -- Missouri linebacker Marcus Bacon has been suspended indefinitely following his weekend arrest for driving while intoxicated.

Missouri officials cited only disciplinary reasons for the suspension. Bacon, a 6-2, 220-pound junior, was the Tigers' leading tackler with eight tackles and 1.5 sacks in Saturday's season-opening 44-17 win over Arkansas State in Kansas City.

Spokesman Chad Moller said there was no timetable for Bacon's return.

OU starter Bomar cited for alcohol possession
Associated Press

NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma quarterback Rhett Bomar's status for the Sooners' game against Tulsa this weekend remains unchanged even though he was cited by police here for possession of alcohol by a minor, officials said Thursday.

Bomar, 20, was allegedly outside a residence near campus in possession of "a cocktail, which included alcohol" on Saturday, police Lt. Tom Easley said. Bomar wasn't arrested.

"The only analogy I can make is, it's similar to a traffic citation," Easley said. "If you're a Norman resident, we will let you sign with a promise to appear in court within five days."

Bomar, who Easley said is scheduled to appear for an Oct. 5 court date, couldn't immediately be reached for comment.

Kenny Mossman, OU associate athletics director for communications, said he wasn't sure if coach Bob Stoops knew that Bomar had been cited when Stoops named the redshirt freshman as the starting quarterback earlier this week.

Stoops "has known about it for several days, and it will be handled within the framework of the team," Mossman said. Stoops doesn't intend to comment further, Mossman said.

Easley said there were "several" other minors at the house where Bomar was cited. Police were led to the house after an officer encountered an intoxicated teenager nearby.

"The officer got some information from her and other sources around her that there was a party going on with other underage drinkers," Easley said.
