ESPN.com said:Parker still faces weapons charge after petty theft charge dropped
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida State receiver Preston Parker still faces a weapons charge after a petty theft charge was dropped.
Parker paid $200 in court costs Monday to drop the 2006 misdemeanor of stealing a $9.99 DVD movie from a store in Tallahassee.
Parker was arrested earlier this month on a misdemeanor charge of possessing less than 20 grams of marijuana and the felony charge of having a loaded .45-caliber pistol in the dash of his car.
The weapons charge in Palm Beach County must be resolved before he can rejoin the team.
Parker, 21, was selected Florida State's most valuable player last season after leading the team with 1,513 all-purpose yards and 62 receptions.

JACKSON, Miss. (AP)?Two former Mississippi State players were given suspended sentences for firing guns on campus in March.
Oktibbeha County Circuit Court Judge Lee Howard gave Michael Brown two years suspended and Quinton Wesley three years suspended. Each will be on probation during the sentence and could serve time in jail if he does not meet all the requirements.
?Had the judge felt as if they were shooting at anybody, I believe the outcome would?ve been a little different,? Assistant District Attorney Frank Clark said. ?But the judge was convinced?and I think rightfully so?that they weren?t shooting at anybody so much as just shooting guns up in the air and being stupid. The problem is it put so many people in danger.?

University of Florida football player uses dead girl's card
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) - A University of Florida football player
is accused of using a dead girl's credit card.
Jamar Hornsby turned himself in Friday morning on charges of
credit card theft and fraudulent use of a credit card. His
attorney, Huntley Johnson, says they learned that a judge had
issued a warrant for Hornsby's arrest Thursday.
The 21-year-old was later released on his own recognizance.
It's not immediately clear how he got Ashley Slonina's credit
card. Slonina, also a University of Florida student, died in a
motorcycle accident in 2007 along with another football player,
redshirt freshman Michael Guilford.
Johnson says his client will cooperate with authorities. Horsnby
will be staying with his mother in Jacksonville where he is from.
Penn State CB Timmons ordered into probation program
BELLEFONTE, Pa. (AP) -- Penn State cornerback Knowledge Timmons must serve a year in a probation program for first-time offenders after being charged with two misdemeanors in an encounter with police following a fight last fall.
Centre County Judge Thomas Kistler placed Timmons in the accelerated rehabilitative disposition program, which is designed for first-time, nonviolent offenders, defense attorney Karen Muir said Friday. Timmons must also perform one day of community service.
The charges can be dismissed and Timmons' record expunged if he completes the program and does not get into trouble again, Muir said.
Timmons was charged with disorderly conduct and defiant trespass for an incident directly after an Oct. 7 fight.
Three other players -- linebacker Navorro Bowman and defensive tackles Phil Taylor and Chris Baker are scheduled to stand trial on charges including misdemeanor simple assault and disorderly conduct in connection with the fight at the student union in which police said one man was hurt. Bowman and Baker are also each charged with felony aggravated assault.
