Pat Forde at ESPN had these cracks on Texas in his most recent column:

Some observations:
  • Texas' most recent problem is 5 pages back in this thread
  • Texas finished well behind both Illinois and PSU in the Fulmer Cup standings - both of whom had more recent problems
It's not exactly news, but fairness still carries no weight with the media. They play up problems if they can make what they think is a good story out of them.

Texas still strikes a high-profile on the college landscape. As such, they are an easy target for the likes of Forde. Penn State has fallen too far on-the-field to get this treatment off-the-field.

Memo to OSU fans: Be careful what you wish for.

Forde is a graduate of the University of Missouri. Not surprised he'd take shots at Texas while his alma mater has a decent team that can recruit some stars out from under Brown and Company

Tulane player arrested in connection with stabbings of five people

NEW ORLEANS -- Police arrested Tulane football player Ray Boudreaux on Friday in connection with the Bourbon Street stabbing that left five people hurt last weekend.
Boudreaux was arrested early Friday at his home in Metairie on five counts of attempted murder, according to police, who said the knife used in the stabbings was found in his house.
Tulane suspended Boudreaux from school and the team.
Boudreaux stabbed five people in a fight between two groups at a French Quarter bar that ended on the streets Sunday, police said, citing a surveillance camera that caught the stabbing.
Police Sgt. Joe Narcisse said a tipster recognized Boudreaux on the video.
Boudreaux, a 5-foot-10-inch running back, started two of the eight games he played for Tulane last year and had 175 yards.

Highly-touted Indiana recruit charged with drug trafficking

A highly-touted prep basketball star who has committed to Indiana has been arrested and charged with trafficking in cocaine in Kentucky. Bud Mackey, 18, a 6-foot-4 guard, was arrested at about 5 p.m. Friday and charged with trafficking in a controlled substance within 1,000 yards of a school and first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (cocaine), first offense, according to officials at the Scott County jail in Georgetown, Ky. He was being held Friday night on a $10,000 cash bond.

"I'm just hoping and praying ... you hope it's not true," his coach, Billy Hicks, told the Lexington Herald-Leader. "You hope when it all shakes out there's a logical explanation."
Mackey led Scott County High School of Georgetown to the Kentucky state championship last season and was named most valuable player at the Sweet 16.
