Organizers say Barry Bonds is expected to attend The Ultimate Event, the high-end fan fest featuring the Giants slugger and Alex Rodriguez. As the Daily News reported last month, tickets for a meet-and-greet cocktail party Friday night with Bonds and A-Rod at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square - fans will have the opportunity to ask the players questions and snap photos with the stars - cost $7,500. Entry to Saturday's autograph session at the 40/40 Club will set back collectors $1,050.

Fans who fork over $7,500 for Friday's cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and question-and-answer session won't be completely in the hole. They'll receive a gift bag full of goodies Monette estimates are worth more than $4,000, including a video game, a bottle of wine, cigars and a watch created just for The Ultimate Event. Many of the items may wind up on eBay or other Internet auctions.

Rodriguez, meanwhile, will donate his share of the proceeds to the Boys & Girls Club of America. But Bonds isn't planning to share his portion of the profits. Bernstein told Sports Illustrated last month that the event "is squarely in the for-profit section of Barry's portfolio."

What Barry is selfish and egotistic? I'm shocked. I guess him having his own wing in the locker room, a big screen seperating him from his teammates, and working out with the team wasn't enough to convince me before. Or his calling to find out if he or teammate Jeff Kent had won MVP. When he found out Kent won, he left town on vacation without even a congratulations for his teammate.

Maybe the Roids have eaten away his brain.
