so you want me to believe the team that will be playing for a repeat stanley cup plays large portions of most of their games soft and uninspired? shit.....if they actually decided to show up for an entire season....they would probably win every game by about 60 goals.
oh wait......that IS what you want people to think. you build them up so fucking high in your mind that you have to make up phony excuses as to why they aren't winning every game by 60.

Who said anything about the Wings winning games by 60 goals? And yes you should believe it, because it's true. Even the players and coaches themselves have said as much during the regular season and in the Anaheim series.
How else do you explain the complete difference between Osgood in the regular season and the post-season? Or the total defensive effort given by the Wings team? Yeah it's because I'm just imagining the players saying the regular season was just a warm-up for the playoffs.
It's because there were only a scant few games in the regular season they cared about - one of which was the Winter Classic in Chicago. They actually gave an example of the complete opposite of this against your team the Rangers this year. They out-skilled the Rangers, especially in the last part of the game and that was the deciding factor because the Rangers clearly outplayed them in all facets of the game only to lose in OT. The 8-2 game against Columbus, the first game against the Pens where the Pens scored 5 times in the 3rd - all these games (and there were many more) come to mind and that's this year alone. Last year Detroit did it in the Dallas series and nearly blew a 3 game lead and tried to coast through the Trashville series and it very nearly cost them that one as well.
You haven't watched enough of the Wings to know better.
Detroit has been doing this off and on since 2001, especially in series where the team they are playing is a team they won the series in the regular season from. They got lucky this year against Anaheim (that had all the makings of the 2003 Anaheim series OR the 2004 Calgary series) and Chicago has much more depth on offense.
But hey what do I know, it's only what this team has been doing for the better part of the decade.
