Players leaving the court early

i thought it was a good idea, but i think he was also making a very clear point...he was pissed, rightfully so, but i think he was taking away from FSU's win......he knows very well there is a way easier exit right by their bench but he had them go across the court, it made a huge scene, but they did shake hands....coach k barely shook hands with coach hamilton and also said something that hamilton clearly didn't appreciate, and i doubt we ever find out what was said......apparently coach k was ballistic off the camera according to tallahassee democrat reporters.....in all, it was smart to get his team out of there, if he was really worried about their safety maybe he should have sent them through their normal exit instead of parading them across the court with time on the clock

did anyone actually see it? i didnt see the end of the game. thats the thing, i know the fans stormed the court with 1.7 left and then it happened or something. a decent explanation of the situation would be nice.

most of you guys know were i stand on the entering the field of play. no fan should enter it, period.

The fans stormed the court with 1.7 left as a FSU player was fouled.

The fans were shooed off the court and Redick was given 2 Technical foul shots for the fans running on the floor. He made both and put them down by 3.

The FSU player that was fouled with 1.7 left then took his foul shots and the entire Duke team except for the 5 left on the floor went to the locker room and shook the FSU team's hands as they passed their bench on the way to the lockerroom. The player took made his first shot and I believe made his second and the clock ran out when Duke in-bounded.

a further explanation:

duke was down 5 when they got the ball with about 10 secs, they took a shot missed, the ball got kicked around, and AL Thornton of FSU came away with the ball. Al dribbled around for a second or two and was fouled with 1.7 seconds left on the clock. The crowd went into a frenzy and some people ran out onto the court. It appeared a majority of the fans knew there was time still on the clock, but enough people crowded the court that the time keeper ran the last 1.7 off the clock at which point everyone flooded the court. Security, players, coaches, and plenty of other people got the students off the court, put 1.7 back on the clock, assessed FSU a technical for players leaving the bench/fans entering the court, and resumed play with Redick nailing his free throws. They went to the other end of the court for Al Thornton to shoot his double bonus free throwns at which point Duke subbed in their walk-ons and left the court at FSU's end so they could shake hands and get off the court before another crowd mobbing. Thornton mad ehis free-throws, put FSU up by 5, Duke ran the 1.7 off the clock and the fans rushed a second time.

Good point. Realistically they shouldn't have rushed the court early although I can understand why the did. That could have just as easily happened at the Schott.
