Team, unless they do something really underhanded to my favorite player that makes him go elsewhere, or if they let all their good players leave through free agency without making any reasonable effort to keep them. (Indians fans, can you relate? Though I'm still an Indians fan.)

Or unless they move to another city like Baltimore and change their name.

When I was looking for a pro team to follow, Eddie(My favorite player) was entering the draft. So I decided to follow him in the NFL as well. Therefore I became a Houston Oiler fan. I am still a Tennessee Titan fan without Eddie.

The only teams I follow are the Buckeyes in all things college sports.

When it comes to professional sports, I like to see our alumni do well, regardless of the team (i.e. if the Rams staring LB corps remains all Ohio State, I will probably follow their season closely).

NFL: My team in the is the Dolphins, but I am not nearly as passionate about them as I am the Buckeyes. Do I like it when then do well? Yes. Does it pain me when they lose? Not so much.

I also follow the Browns somewhat because I grew up in Mansfield (which was a big Browns town at the time), was around when Model bitched-out and ran off in the night, and was at the Draft Party at the Rock and Roll HOF when they got that future HOF'er Couch (ex-in-laws live in Parma Heights and are big time Browns fans), but I have always liked the Dolphins more since I can remember.

MLB: (Indians) Lost me years ago when they last struck and I really could not care less about it anymore, but I will snag our company seats (2 rows behind the Marlins' owner) once in awhile to take my son to a game.

NBA: Never had a favorite team, and never really followed it until the playoffs. I was rooting for the Cavs way back when because I wanted to see MJ and the Bulls lose those couple of years in the playoffs, but I just never got into the NBA all that much. I know I will get blasted for this, but I am glad that LeBron is in Miami with Wade and Bosch, because I will get to take my son to see them with company tickets as well.

NHL: I never got into hockey enough to have a team (but it is fun as hell to watch live from right behind the glass!).

Team. Over on a Cavs board I would see some posters stating that they were not Cavs fans but were LeRon fans and thought it was crazy. If you root for the individual, how do you feel if the team wins but your guy does terrible and vice versa? Aside from your guy getting a ring, do you even care if the team wins?

I know a guy that grew up an OSU fan in Columbus and then became a State Penn fanboy when his brother-in-law played football there. I understand rooting for your family, but he has totally turned his back on OSU now. Watching a PSU game with him is the most annoying thing I've ever seen. I just wish I could have been in the room with him when we kicked the shit out of State Penn last year.

Team always with the exception of the NBA. Free agency killed that sport and it's impossible to follow a team from one season to another. So I just root for players that have been around awhile and get chances at rings. But I never root for the Lakers, period.

In all honesty, I'm not a big follower of pro football and pro basketball. I simply root for my Buckeyes to tear it up. If the Lakers are playing the Celtics in game 7, I'm rooting for Ron Artest to start a fight. It's not even a sport to me at that level. Just looks like entertainment.
What it boils down to for me is just college level teamwork and passion.

Neither.

Follow the coach's wife. BOOYEAH! Sugar momma!

Yertle's a USC fan now?? :shake:

Team. Silly poll, as no there is no other right answer if a college team - and very few exceptions if it is Pro. After all this time I am a Saints fan, but I am still a Chiefs fan from when I lived there as a Jr. High sports nut. I still root for them after forty years, but I don't rock the gear any more. All 'bout the Saints now.
