Looking for some entertainment ideas in Pitt for the Mrs and my parents. Ski trip is out given the warmth.

Which BPers are from Pittsburgh or nearby?

What entertainment would you recommend?

Where would you eat?

Eating

If you go to Primanti's you have to go to the original in the Strip District. Other favorites are Peppi's on the North Shore, Fat Heads on the South Side, Burgatory (a little out of town at the Waterworks off of Route 28 past the zoo) and Vincent's Pizza Park in Forrest Hills (don't mistake for Vincent's of Greentree).

Sights

A visit to Mount Washington overlooking the city is a Pittsburgh staple. Carnegie Museums of History on the Pitt campus is good choice as well. The Andy Warhol museum is also located downtown. The Pens play both Saturday and Sunday afternoons and the Consol Energy Center is a beautiful building. If you're looking for bars the Southside, Strip District and Downtown all offer a good selection.

If you have any specific questions feel free to ask or shoot me a PM.

You mean Pittsburgh actually exists? I always just thought it was a mythological place like Narnia or the G Spot. It's kinda hard to separate fact from fiction. It's supposed to be this land of downtrodden baseball teams, which seems stolen from the north side of Chicago. A Disney-esque hockey team named after a flightless bird. A football team whose main claim to fame was a coke-swilling running back who caught a deflection off the Blessed Virgin for a touchdown in the big game. I guess I just figured it was all some made-up story.

Call the Doctorb, I'm sure he'll be glad to entertain the group.

Many good suggestions already.

I'd suggest Monterey Bay Fish Grotto for dinner, which sits at the top of one of the highest points on Mt. Washington. Great, great food. Great view of the city as well.

National Aviary is pretty cool, unless you hate birds for some reason.

You MUST go to Pamela's in the strip district and get the pancakes. Best I have ever had, ever, anywhere, not even close. end of discussion.

Church Brew Works. Very neat, transformed church into a bar/restaurant and they brew their own beer on site.

Hofbrahaus is fun.

South Side if you just want to bar hop. start at or finish at Jack's - classic dive bar.
