Georgia Tech's Gailey interviews with Steelers

Associated Press

PITTSBURGH - Georgia Tech coach Chan Gailey, a Steelers assistant for four seasons in the 1990s, met with the team for three hours Saturday as the search for Bill Cowher's replacement entered its second week.
"It's a great opportunity. This is such a great organization - it has been through the years and will continue to be," said Gailey, the fifth candidate to interview for the job. "I feel fortunate to be here and be part of the process."

Whisenhunt would overwork Roethlisberger. The Steelers need a two-back offense (Willie Parker and a big back) that runs the ball 35 times and passes the ball 25- times. I hope that is what we return to, because that is how the Steelers win football games.

Roethlisberger played in 26 games before this year and had 563 passing attempts. He played in 15 games this year and 469 passing attempts.

Roethlisberger's passer rating dropped from a 98.6 to a 75.4, and he threw 3 more interceptions than he had in his entire career. His accuracy dropped from 62.7 to 59.7. His average yards per catch went from 8.9 to 7.5. And he only threw for 1 more touchdown.

Less is more.

Vikings' Tomlin has second interview with Steelers; Grimm next

Associated Press

PITTSBURGH - Mike Tomlin appreciates the opportunity he's getting as one of three finalists for the Pittsburgh Steelers' coaching job. To him, no former assistant to Tony Dungy could feel any differently.
The Minnesota Vikings' defensive coordinator had his second interview Tuesday with the Steelers, a day before Steelers assistant head coach Russ Grimm talks to the team again. Chicago defensive coordinator Ron Rivera, the third finalist, can't meet with them again until the Bears' season ends.

Steelers say no new head coach hired yet

ALAN ROBINSON

Associated Press

PITTSBURGH - With differing reports that they have chosen Mike Tomlin or Russ Grimm, the Pittsburgh Steelers do not expect to reach an agreement with their new coach until at least Monday.

Steelers Doctor linked to online steroids pharmacy. FBI probing. Several other prominent names mentioned.

In the Orlando case, among the customers allegedly linked to Signature Pharmacy included former major league pitcher Jason Grimsley and and Richard A. Rydze, a team doctor for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Grimsley, who pitched for 15 seasons, was suspended for 50 games by Major League Baseball in June after his name was linked to a federal drug probe.

Tomlin, Steelers begin new era
NFL notebook
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

PITTSBURGH - Under the first sunny sky Pittsburgh has seen in nearly two weeks, all but three Steelers players practiced Friday during the first day of a voluntary but well-attended minicamp that is one of two permissible under NFL rules for teams with a new coach.
Obviously, the Steelers aren't accustomed to staging such a camp so early in the spring, given this is only their second coaching change in 37 years.
So it was a little different with new coach Mike Tomlin running the show in place of Bill Cowher.

So what did we think of that draft Steeler fans? I'm just slightly o.K. with the 2 LB's although it obviously pains me to see a scUMer on the team.

That 3rd round reach for Spaeth was a total fucking head sctratcher. Any thoughts on that one? I didn't think that was an area of need.

I liked the first 2 picks (However, I think Matt Khalil would've been a better pick in the 2nd round, considering Hartings just retired).

Yeah, lots of questions about this draft right now, but as always time will tell. Initial reactions from most people are the best they can say is its just o.k. so thats a cause for some concern imo.
