West Virginia vs. Pitt brawl marks a century

PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh defensive coordinator Paul Rhoads has played a role in some of college football's biggest rivalries, including Ohio State vs. Michigan. None, he says, is like Pitt vs. West Virginia in one special quality.
To Rhoads, the Backyard Brawl is a perfect nickname for an always-physical, always-meaningful series that will be played for the 100th time Saturday when Pitt tries to block No. 2 West Virginia's path to the national championship game.
Other rivalries are better known nationally and make a bigger impact on the Top 25 rankings, but the Brawl decides who is the toughest kid on a very small block.
"This rivalry is big and it's important," Rhoads said Wednesday. "This one is mean. This one is physical and these are two teams that like to get after each other for 60 minutes."

can't wait for LeSean Mccoy to rip off a 175 yard game

Wanny shouldn't even consider throwing the ball....just feed it to your rb's all game...WVU cannot stop the run. I'm being semi-serious here, they should really just go power formations the entire game, control the clock as much as they can, and pound it out

UCONN gave up on the run way too early even though the averaged close to 8 ypc through 2.5 quarters.

They can throw the ball if LeSean McCoy is throwing the ball.

For the record, LeSean McCoy is 1-2 for 18 yards throwing the ball.

truthfully, Bostick isn't that bad, I think their lack of success through the air is due to their playmakers at wideout. Plus there defense has been very poor this year, although they looked decent against Soth Florida for 3 quarters.

I'm just confused as to why teams haven't really tried to slug it out on the ground with WVU much this year. That 3-3-5 is there for the taking. It's probably b/c a majority of the Big East has resorted to running a spread style offense and aren't equiped for that style of play. I think Pitt will be one of the first teams they've faced who will truly try and run the ball first.

Obviosuly, I don't Pitt will win, but if they can establish the run, which I think they will, they can keep it close.
