Tough weather conditions, but WV is a team that bought into the NC and Heisman talk. Then, they were exposed and never recovered. The team and QB were good, but over-rated IMO. Lost vey badly due to defense inability to stop the run.

I agreed with that call - I thought the ball was knocked loose before it started coming forward, and then Geno's hand, as he moved his arm forward without control of the ball, knocked the loose ball forward, which is why the ball went so far.

But on the second safety, why couldn't the ref signal safety as soon as he's done throwing the flag, since he carefully spotted the flag in the end zone, and when the ball hits the ground the play's over and the penalty makes it a safety. He waited about 40 seconds before signaling a safety - I don't know why he had to confer with other refs since nobody else had a call, and it was the head ref's call in the end zone. But it was a bad break for WV since Smith was tripped on that play, and the trip looked to be intentional.

If there was some questionable officiating calls in this game, I wonder what is going to happen in the BCS championship game because these are the same officials that will be doing that game.

Also, this is another reason why I don't think bowl games should be played in North unless they are played in a domed stadium. This game was just ugly and while the Mountaineers certainly contributed to that ugly mess so did the weather.
