Phoenix Suns (Official Thread)

Slick inbounds play to win the game with .9 seconds to play which only took .2 seconds:

Deandre Ayton’s game-winning alley-oop leads Suns past Clippers in Game 2 of Western Conference Finals

The Phoenix Suns were trailing 103-102 with 0.9 seconds left in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals and deployed that strategy to perfection to steal a win against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Like something we saw many times out of Arizona’s playbook, Ayton came around a screen, leaped to catch a baseline out of bounds pass over the rim, and threw it down over a Clipper defender for the game-winning basket in the 104-103 victory. The play is being dubbed the “Valley Oop.”

The Clippers argued for goaltending but, as ESPN analyst Mark Jackson pointed out, there is no goaltending on an inbounds pass.

The tenths of a second thing is laughable since a human being is turning the clock on and off, which itself takes tenths of seconds.

But justice was ultimately served last night. The Clippers rallied to take a lead as every replay review in the final 2 minutes went their way. Beverly dramatically throwing his head back - when replay showed Booker didn't even touch his head - turned out to be an offensive foul on Booker, and it went from there.

I was at a function back in 2007 and Sarver and some Suns people were seated nearby and we shared the same buffet. My impression of him was he's socially awkward, lacks social awareness. I obviously don't know it any of the accusations against him are true but after seeing how he interacted with people it wouldn't surprise me.

Robert Sarver says he's starting process to sell NBA's Phoenix Suns, WNBA's Phoenix Mercury

Owner Robert Sarver on Wednesday announced that he has begun the process to sell both the NBA's Phoenix Suns and WNBA's Phoenix Mercury franchises.

"As a man of faith, I believe in atonement and the path to forgiveness," Sarver said in a statement Wednesday. "I expected that the commissioner's one-year suspension would provide the time for me to focus, make amends and remove my personal controversy from the teams that I and so many fans love.

"But in our current unforgiving climate, it has become painfully clear that that is no longer possible -- that whatever good I have done, or could still do, is outweighed by things I have said in the past. For those reasons, I am beginning the process of seeking buyers for the Suns and Mercury."

NBA commissioner Adam Silver said he "fully supports" the decision by Sarver to sell the teams.

"This is the right next step for the organization and community," Silver said.

Sarver was suspended one year and fined $10 million last week after an NBA investigation found that he used the N-word at least five times "when recounting the statements of others."

Sarver also was involved in "instances of inequitable conduct toward female employees," including "sex-related comments" and inappropriate comments on employees' appearances.

"Words that I deeply regret now overshadow nearly two decades of building organizations that brought people together -- and strengthened the Phoenix area -- through the unifying power of professional men's and women's basketball," Sarver wrote in his statement.

Sarver bought the teams in July 2004 for about $400 million. With approximately one-third of the stake, he is not the lone owner, but he is the primary one. Forbes recently estimated the value of the Suns at $1.8 billion.

Even though Sarver does not own the Suns in full, sources told ESPN that he has the authority, as managing partner, to sell the team in full. One source added that a new owner or ownership group could ask that a member or members of the current ownership group remain on board, but that remains to be seen.
