Has anyone got any phobias? If so what is it?

I only have a few. One is I dont like being out in the ocean miles away and I can't see land. The fear of drowning or getting ate by a shark.

Here is a link to some crazy phobias:

I am completely intimidated whenever I see posts that are entirely in bold print.

I think there may be a name for that condition, but I Can't Call It.

I'm scared of heights, but only when in a stationary position.

I can ride rollercoasters fine.. but when I'm just standing moderately high off the ground I get uncomfortable.
I am exactly the same way. I love rollercoasters (except that initial wait at the top of a hill), but I am scared to death standing still when at height. At my business we have a 4 story complex where the middle on all ends is wide open to the bottom floor. Kinda hard to describe, but I get weirded out just standing on the top floor near a railing. Doesn't help the railings/barriers are all clear plexiglas.

On another note, there are tons of people afraid of snakes. We had a pet snake in college (feeding day was really cool), and I used to come out during parties with him around my neck. Half the people would run.

To go on a complete tangent...We tried to get our snake bigger. He was a ball python about 3 ft long. So we fed him 2 mice instead of 1. The two mice crapped themselves as usual, literally. He ate one, and left the other alone. The whole day the mouse was shaking uncontrolably. Then, the next day we saw the mouse cuddled up against the snake sleeping. For six days they lived together like buddies. The mouse seemed as happy as could be. On the 7th day, we checked the cage, and the mouse was gone. Talk about cold blooded. They hang for a week, and then, boom, the mouse was lunch. "Damn you were tastey, but thanks for the memories. I will always cherish them"

When I was little (8?) I feared flying - and won a trip in a stunt plane at an air show. My mother made me go up to get the tix in front of a crowd of 10,000 (as they proudly announced all day). I didn't want to take the tickets... the man asked if I was afraid and of course I said no... he said I had to go because I had the tickets... scared silly, I said "not anymore!" and tore them up...

Moral of the story: It's silly to be afraid of flying. It's silly to be afraid of crowds. When it comes to embarrassing your mother in public, be afraid... be very afraid!

I have the same thing with heights.

I used to climb avidly, and am fine with clinging hundreds of feet up a cliff suspended by a rope connected to some things pounded into some cracks.

However. . . Standing at a railing on someone's balcony in a high rise gives me the creeps and makes me feel as if I am falling off. . .

Weird.

midgets creep me the fuck out. So do spiders, or anything crawling on me. I hate not being able to move my legs (i have 3 labs, and sometimes they lay on the blankets by my legs and i cant move) snakes and fish are others.

At the grocery store, no matter what I take off the shelf, I take one from the back. I move the one in the front and grab one that I dont think has been touched yet. My friends tell me they have never heard of that before. I have a fear that some dirt ball touched by food.

Can I get away with posting the blue head-shaking emoticons one more time or would that be too much?

With summer almost here, I deal with a phobia of mine almost on a daily basis. Yellow jackets, wasps, and hornets are just a few that come to mind. Those little bastards scare the shit out of me on site. I have only been stung once (yellow jacket), and I'm not allergic to them.

I used to work on a paint crew during the summer months and I wouldn't go up on a ladder without wasp spray and the wasp spray had to kill on contact and be able to spray at least 25 feet. Twice I have jumped off a ladder at least 10 feet up, that was before the wasp spray rule went into effect. Wasp's scare me the most, the way they fly around and the sight of those legs hanging down....fuck that

I am afraid of naked women. I have had to go on Ativan since you started posting here.

I also have an irrational fear of heights. I love being high (go ahead, fire away) buy can't look down. I hiked rim to rim at the Grand Canyon last year - but I still can't go to the edge of an overlook and look down. It is a family thing too. When my brother was in Paris he couldn't go to the top of the Eiffel Tower. He is a retired Air Force pilot.
