Normally I would change the channel, but when I got home and saw that it was still the first half of that game, I decided to watch for a little while. She is that entertaining to watch...she might be one of the most exciting players in the nation to watch.

I watched the game and figured she could make the top-10 plays on SC. The between-the-legs drop-pass in the lane wasn't her best pass of the night, however. She made a pass from the defensive free-throw line to the edge of the lane in the offensive end, just over the arms of a defender, hitting a teammate running full speed, that gave an easy layup. They compared her to Drew Brees when she made that pass, about a 60-footer.

She had 19 points, 9 assists, and zero turnovers in the first half, despite making a couple of showtime passes.

Now this is the Prahalis that we've been waiting to return! When she plays with this focus and does not try to overplay her position, there are few point guards in the country that would beat her. The only one that comes close IMO is Diggins, who is the best at making those around her better by keeping them involved. Sammi did a marvelous job of distributing the ball to the perimeter and allowing them to knock down shots, fed the post to perfection, and saw downcourt (which has not been happening lately) to allow fast breaks. Those points are there repeatedly if they're just taken advantage of. She also was impressive with her own shot selection this game, not forcing anything like she's done the last 3 games. We've got players ranking 1st or 2nd in almost every stat catagory, that should be a primary focus for her to play to. If she plays like she did in this game to finish out the season, this team will indeed be something very special. The thought of all 5 starters returning next season should put a smile on Fosters face. Sammi's control at the point position could/should be one that provides confidence to her teammates that makes all of them feel they are an important piece of this puzzle.:osu:

you know what....

After seeing this girl play the last couple games....who CARES if the perception of her isn't someone's definition of "classy" as if that matters. She isn't a dirty player, she plays within the rules.

This chick brings the attitude to the women's basketball team that I personally think has been lacking the past couple years. She has the type of attitude that will keep this team going even when they are playing tough teams as we go into March here.

There is nothing wrong with playing with attitude. I love the fact that she lets her personality show through in her game. I don't watch basketball to see robots play.

Do you think Sammy is a selfish player? Or that she passed up open passes for her own shot for selfish reasons? Or that her teammates think that of her?

I reread the post and still see it as a huge compliment to Prahalis, so don't read more than that in to it. I did not mention the word 'selfish', nor did I imply that her team thought that, I would have no earthly idea on what they think. My thoughts would be that they love having her there, that they all know she's enabled this team to completely change the way OSU womens basketball plays, and feed off her energy. My 'personal' opinion, and I only speak for myself now, is that at times she has forced shots instead of making the pass, perhaps out of frustration more than anything. As other players' confidence grows, this should make her job easier also. She does need to keep them involved though to make this team more difficult to defend. As I stated before, she was amazing the last game, kept everybody involved, and made great choices.
She is a definite frontrunner for Big 10 POY:osu:

OSU women's basketball: Prahalis named Big Ten player of the week

Ohio State sophomore guard Samantha Prahalis earned her fourth Big Ten player of the week award this season after leading the first-place Buckeyes to wins over Iowa and Penn State.

Prahalis averaged 24 points and 9.5 assists and made all 15 of her free throws. In Sunday's come-from-behind victory at Penn State, Prahalis also recorded her seventh double-double of the season with 26 points and 12 assists.
