yep, the one weakness he appears to have at this point is his perimeter shot, fortunately on this team, his perimeter game is not needed......I have been watching Conley for a few years now and I did know he was talented, but honestly I am a little suprised by how he seems to get to the lane whenever he wants to.....

Conley has been the biggest pleasant surprise of the freshman thus far. His mastery of the court as a PG is second to only a select few in the entire NCAA. We all knew how good Oden and Cook were going to be, but Conley, not so much. The way Oden was able to dominate the HS field with his size alone left Mike playing in his shadow in the public eye. Now that Oden is competing with people his size, Mike has been given the opportunity to show off his true stuff. Once this kid can find his shot, he will be in the top 10 PGs in the NCAA easy. He might already be for that matter...

Mike Conley Jr., a freshman point guard for No. 7 Ohio State, is the son of 1992 Olympic gold medalist Mike Conley (triple jump). Mike Conley Jr. also was a high school teammate of fellow Buckeyes freshman Greg Oden, the likely No. 1 pick in the 2007 NBA draft. Conley and Oden's relationship is one of the reasons Conley is leading the Big Ten Conference in assists.

Earlier in the season, when those statements were made... he wasn't shooting the three hardly at all, let alone making them.

Conley is one of the top guards in my opinion, he is a defensive players nightmare. He don't shoot it great, but well enough that you have to get out on him and when that happens that usually results in points either a layup for him or a center has to help (leaving oden open for a dunk) or you get help on the perimeter where you leave one of your better shooters wide open. I haven't seen anyone do it better all year making 2 guys guard one, making everyone else around him job that much easier. The kid is tough.

Matta has repeatedly said Conley drains well over 50% of his treys in practice. Eventually, he was bound to start hitting them. Remember Jamar Butler's freshman season.

That's news to me, not sure a coach would tell a kid not to shoot. makes me think of elementary gym class where we had to pass the pall to at least 2 girls before we were allowed to shoot...

Jamar did shoot some, however, and made very few of his shots.

He was put out on the court for his defense his freshmen year...
