Sounds like EJ is leaning towards coming back and Duane towards leaving.
NIL changes the equation a bit though not fully. But Ohio State football/Duke basketball players aren't going to be hurting as much to make some money for their family as they used to. Will be interesting to see how it settles out in a few years. But yeah that's not 100k and a free villa in greece or whatever a lot of players get in playing in EuropeThese guys can still make a lot of money playing in Europe if they go undrafted. Not gonna begrudge a guy for going to get paid to play a game they love.
I am somewhat surprised even now. I don't expect to see Duane be an NBA draft pick or to make an NBA roster, but perhaps he is making this decision with an eye towards other professional leagues. But Holt already coached two players at OSU that have been on NBA rosters, KBD and Tate.Wow. What a rise from the first few months of last season. Even going into the offseason I thought this was unexpected. Best of luck! Hopefully Holtmann has a guy he can point to as an NBA success.
Fair, I almost said “another” NBA player. And despite those guys catching on, Duane truly feels like Holt’s first guy. Duane committed to him and was coached for 3 years so this could be his first real success story to claim. Really hoping he finds his way into the league.I am somewhat surprised even now.
