PF Othello Hunter (Maccabi Tel Aviv BC)

I read in a recent article a few comments by Matta on Hunter....he stated he was averaging a double-double and was being considered for JUCO player of The Year in Florida......

Very good news.

We are going to be a totally different team than we were this year, just b/c of how we are going to be able to actually put a C and a PF on the floor at the same time that can both dominate down low and then we are going to be much longer than we were last year.

I have been hesitant to post anything about the ongoing rumors regarding Hunter and his academic standing but at this point it looks like there is some smoke in this area but no one I have contacted can give exact details at this point....stay tuned.

Dispatch

Hunter will be able to join Buckeyes
Friday, August 25, 2006

The "Thad Five" will report intact next month for the Ohio State men’s basketball team’s preseason conditioning program.
Coach Thad Matta confirmed this week that 6-foot-9 power forward Othello Hunter graduated from Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, Fla., after finishing the summer session there last week.
The other four members of the 2006 recruiting class — freshmen Greg Oden, Mike Conley Jr., Daequan Cook and David Lighty — recently completed summer classes at Ohio State.
Preseason practice begins Oct. 14.
Matta said Oden, who had surgery in June to repair a torn ligament in his right wrist, has begun therapy to increase the range of motion in the joint. The wrist was stabilized for the first eight weeks after surgery. It remains uncertain when Oden will be cleared for practice or games.

i'm ashamed. how does othello's board go more than three freakin' months without a post? don't get me wrong. i'm calling no one out. heck, i guess i'm calling myself out. i feel horrible that there isn't one post about othello from the end of august through the eighth game.

here are some stats for othello:

ranked 14th in the big ten for rebounds per game @ 6
- all but a few average at least 5 more minutes than othello does

ranked 8th in the big ten for blocks per game @ 1.6

---

okay. now you can tell me i'm overreacting. :tongue2:
