And that Nevada team was averaging around 100 a game.

Unbelievable dominance by Sullinger. Kid is going to be amazing in Buckeye colors! Very smooth and confident out there...and I love that he drills his free throws. :)

Hopefully he can teach Dallas a thing or 2 about that next year.

Behind 32 points from Ohio State signee Jared Sullinger, No. 5 Northland (Columbus, Ohio) delivered the first big moment of the 2009-10 high school basketball season Thursday night, beating No. 1 Findlay Prep (Henderson, Nev.) 53-52 in an ESPN-televised contest at Otterbein College outside of Columbus. The loss snapped a 45-game win streak for Findlay Prep, who entered the game 12-0 on the season and averaging over 100 points per game.
Sullinger, a 6-foot-9 forward rated as the No. 2 prospect nationally in the 2010 class by MaxPreps, added 21 rebounds to his point total and hit a pair of free throws in the final seconds to give Northland (2-0) the victory.
“The bigger the game, the better he is going to play,” Northland head coach and proud father Satch Sullinger said of his star senior and son. “He is a big-time player.”

wow is all I can say. Satch was the coach at Reynoldsburg when I was there and not too many people liked him, but the guy can flat out coach. Cannot wait to see Jared suiting up for the Buckeyes next year. Congrats on a huge win Northland

I never expected Sullinger to be as athletic as he is. He has slimmed down even more from last year but he still has incredible power. I went to Thomas Worthington where his brother and former buckeye JJ Sullinger went. I used to see lil Sullinger play when he was in probably 6th or 7th grade. He was chubby as heck and didn't seem to be very good. Boyyyyy he is amazing now. After last night against the number one team in the country, I'd have a hard time saying there is a better player in the country than Jared.

He was very impressive. It looked like all 10 of his FTs swished - he's got great hands and knows how to use that wide body effectively.
Beat me to it:) the first thing I thought was how soft his hands were. Tremendous understanding of the game and how to position himself for rebounds. Better than advertised. I would have loved to see Weatherspoon:biggrin:

Lucky you cause you'll get another chance to see JD in action in January on ESPN.

I'll chime in, albeit with some redundancy, Jared has some of the best hands I've seen on a big man. He is not the best leaper around, but he gets great body position, and is able to "sneak" into position to use his big body and hands to rebound. He has a great understanding of where to be and how to get himself in position to get the ball, either by pass or rebound.

Growing up watching Jim Smith, Granville Waiters and Perry Carter, among other talented but ham-handed big men, I'm really looking forward to a guy that catches anything that's near him. :oh:

I watched the Findlay game twice, and he was even better the second time than I remembered from watching it the first time. He is extremely well polished, and I agree with some other posters here that Jared is in a lot better shape conditioning-wise than he was before, even last year. He's not in perfect shape yet - there were a couple times when he wasn't running the floor real well, but he was on the court basically the whole game, which is a big change from some games last season. He's ready for college now, without a doubt. He doesn't have the greatest size for a post player and he's not the most athletic guy around, so he's going to have to be judicious about the types of shots he takes against really big and tall guys, but he has the skill to work around that and still be very productive if he just stays calm and doesn't get frustrated. He's a great prospect for a college team, and I think he's going to be 1st team all-Big Ten sooner or later.

Jared Sullinger is Ohio State bound.

Name: Jared Sullinger
Rank: No. 1 Class of 2010 (HoopScoop)
Height & weight: 6-8, 262 lbs
Position: Power forward/Center
School: Northland High School (Columbus, Ohio)
College: Ohio State

When you can see him at the 2010 Hoophall Classic: Oak Hill (Va.) Academy vs. Northland (Ohio) High School, Saturday, Jan 16, 4 p.m.

Why you can't miss him: Jared Sullinger is possesses a basketball body and a basketball pedigree that are equally as impressive. His wingspan is nearly 7-feet, and he?ll be the third Sullinger brother with Division I hoop on his resume (J.J. Sullinger, Ohio State; Julian Sullinger, Kent State).

? The folks at Scout.com have a great breakdown of Jared?s strengths:

??Big Sully? is one of the elite players in the country. Wide bodied player uses his beef better than anyone to his advantage. Awesome touch around the rim and guys peel off him in traffic.?

? You?d be hard-pressed to find a more glowing breakdown of Sullinger than the one on DraftExpress.com.

?(He?s an) extremely intelligent, ultra-productive big man, showing amazing hands in the low-post and some of the best rebounding skills we?ve seen at this level. Sullinger was a man in the paint throughout the Adidas Nations camp, establishing deep position in the paint time after time, and showing great wherewithal operating inside and finding ways to create shots for himself with his amazing touch, often through contact. He?s truly a natural scorer with his back to the basket, which is quite a rarity at this level, as well as in the NCAA.?

? NBADraft.net puts it like this:

?He is a bruising throwback post player that uses his 262 pound body to create angles for his shot and to clear space on the boards ? Very physical player that uses his body to wear down opposing big men...The Ohio State commit is also very skilled with a repertoire of advanced post moves for a high school player?Comfortable finishing around the rim with either hand ??
