PF Jaedon LeDee (transfer to TCU, transfer to San Diego St.)

This is freaking ridiculous. Until I hear otherwise, the dude is a Buckeye. Maybe he won’t be tomorrow but this speculation is absurd and not fair to him at all.

So it's more fair to him to think he should be happy with this situation as it looked this season and as it appears for next?

Obviously who knows what kind of strides he can make in his game. Maybe he can find a way out of this "back-up big who doesn't play much" role he seems to be stuck in. Certainly it's within reason that he could progress enough to beat out Young for those back-up minutes and become a 10-15 mpg guy... but will that be enough for him? Is it fair of us as fans to think he should be happy with that for two more years, unless something happens with Kaleb?

I want us to keep Ledee, I really like his potential overall and I think he can become a really versatile frontcourt piece who rebounds like a beast and creates mismatch issues. There is absolutely nothing wrong with wondering if the staff's going to be able to convince him to stay. To not consider the situation is to put your head in the sand (especially when there has been social media stuff from Jaedon's parents showing they aren't exactly thrilled with his lack of PT--this while their son plays for a university a thousand miles away).

I imagine that the most effective pitch to Jaedon is one that sells him on having more of a traditional 4 or SF/PF role in the future here. It's just going to be very difficult given the fact that Jaedon didn't get a single minute in that type of role this season and the fact that we have two T50 SF/PFs coming in with EJ and Alonzo.

I think the other reason people are talking about this is because we're trying to make sense of the Diallo offer. That dude is so raw, he doesn't look like he will be able to contribute much of anything any time sooner than 2021-2022. It would seem to make more sense that we try to get a grad transfer for next season then a good 2020 big and then a good 2021 big. But that route does NOT make more sense if one of Kyle or Jaedon is leaving. Then you kind of need someone at the same time you need to start building center depth for the future, too, since Kaleb graduates after the 2020-2021 season.

I would much rather keep Jaedon than essentially swap him for Diallo. We will just have to wait and see what happens.

Man....seeing him shoot against Ft Wayne, I really thought that he was going to be a contributor over the next 4 years.

Watching him play the rest of the season though.....
with an ounce more fluidity, he'd be a beast. right now, though, he's just a little too rigid. mechanical. in some ways, i think that's why he's a (much) better free throw shooter than you'd expect.

I wish Ledee the best. I think he can have a good career somewhere, just think this was not the best fit for him in terms of the roster situation and once Holtmann got him in here I think Holtmann realized he wasn't going to be able to play him much of anywhere besides the 5 in this system. I actually think Ledee probably would have been a really good starter for us in the post by the time Kaleb graduates, but I don't blame Ledee one bit for not wanting to spend 3 of his 4 years of eligibility waiting for that to happen.
