PF Jaedon LeDee (transfer to TCU, transfer to San Diego St.)

Interesting to see he trained with USA Basketball in '15 and '16. Normally the guys invited to those camps are five stars or high four stars. Wonder why Jaedon is ranked much lower. Regardless, that tells me he has some awesome potential going forward. Here's hoping we land him tomorrow.
i think 247 had him in the top 20 last year (edit: stupid me; it says it right there in the thread's second post). his offense hasn't progressed like projected, so i'm guessing that's the overwhelming reason for ledee's drop. he was a consistent scorer and rebounder this aau season, but he wasn't exactly accurate. and when i see him handle the ball, he appears to better than average as a power forward but worse than average as a wing.

if ledee commits to ohio state, i'm hopeful that at least two of muhammad, washington, locke, ahrens, and battin commit as well. natural scorers/shooters are nice, too.

Jaedon is one of those guys I never seriously thought would end up at OSU. Star from Texas with some real good offers. Just don't see OSU getting many good hoopsters from TX. Last really good one was Jamaal Brown? No, I don't count the '15 class since they bailed and weren't very productive. Ricky Dudley was a football player more so than a hoops player in my book, but maybe you would say he was the last solid baller OSU had from TX. But Jaedon looks like an interesting talent. Got solid size for a 3/4 combo forward, some skill and a decent athlete. Hard to come up with a good comparison from recent OSU players.

Not an OSU player, but I think his game kind of resembles a longer Brandon Bass, bouncy stride, mostly explodes off of two feet when he dunks, good looking mid-range stroke decent athlete and a fit frame.

have done a little more research on ledee and what i found is interesting. as noted, ledee was widely regarded as a 5-star player until last summer. with his size and athleticism, he was dominating. so he moved up. instead of playing against 16u competition, he played against 17u. it was against older players when he moved down in the rankings. ledee never moved up in the rankings after that aau season because scouting services don't care all that much about high school play. had he stayed in his age bracket, my guess is he'd be a top 50ish player.

this spring and summer aau season, ledee played against kids the same age or younger, of course. he played well, averaging at least 15 & 8, though not being the most accurate shooter beyond 10 feet. i don't know if he'll move up in the rankings as a result, but he should. he is highly productive and will likely be productive in college from day 1. scout is the outlier. espn, rivals, and 247 rank him in the 60-90 range, while scout has him like 140-170. i can't find a scout top 150 or so, but another source has verified the middling rank for ledee.

one could also argue that his drop in the rankings was partly due to his tweener status. i don't know. it's harder to value a player when his role definition has fuzzy edges. it could also be that ledee is not a long power forward. truth be told, he's got a white man's wingspan. that doesn't limit him much from swatting shots, though, as he can get up quickly.

all in all, i think there is ample justification for claiming ledee is underrated.

Bama and Oklahoma also offered, so you know he's a legit talent....oops, wrong sport.

In all honesty, I hadn't watched his recruitment, so I slept on this one, but yeah, offers from Arizona, UCLA (was going there on an official), Georgetown, Kansas, and apparently Kentucky? Yeah, he's top-50.

He did visit for the Sooner game, but no reporting came out of the meeting. I'm guessing things went well?

Herky-jerky style reminded me of a poor-man's Evan Turner.

The offers from Arizona, Kansas, Kentucky, UCLA were all from 2 years ago when he was a 5star sophmore. He was listed at 6'7 back then so it looks like he's added 30-60lbs, but hasn't gotten any taller. Being from Texas, I haven't followed his recruitment either, so not sure why the drop in ranking other than level of competition OSU_Buckguy stated above or maybe his ceiling isn't as high as once projected?

Yeah, he didn't have most of those guys in his final eight, so there was a waning of interest. He did still have interest from UCLA. I can see why his ranking might have dropped after being a super sophomore. His style is unorthodox, and if Buckguy is correct, his jumper is considered unreliable. He's an interesting player; I don't know how he projects in college. The comparison to Turner was in height and style...I have no idea if he could become a ball-dominant wing like ET.
