Buck_guy - how do you see Trey developing down the road? Are you as high on him as I am? Don't get me wrong, I don't think he'll be all-B1G but I think he could develope into a starter down the road and be atleastvas productive as Dallas Lauderdale. Whatcha think?
othello hunterish. i would love to have an othello hunter on any buckeye team.

I heard that. I was really impressed with the video of T-Mac that just came out over the weekend. Prior to that, I had only seen footage of Trey in the background of a couple AAU games with Amir Williams in the spotlight.

Trey looked more bulked up than I expected and although his jumpers in this video were just in a 'shoot around' I thought he had a good looking shot and looked natural dribbling and shooting.

Watching that clip, and realizing that Trey McDonald might be our 13th best player out of 13, gets me pumped up for the season and just reassures to me just how dang good Thad Matta is. (no knock on Trey)

Doesn't get off his feet like Hunter, but has a bigger body. Could end up being a poor man's Perry Carter with a lot of work.

Trey has a very good frame and already looks to have beefed up. I like the Perry Carter comparison and Othella Hunter comparison. He's known for his solid work ethic so I believe he will turn out to play a significant role for OSU before he leaves here.

Trey has alot of potential, and is athletic, not many big men are capable of running track let alone the 400.

He is also the youngest member on the team, not yet 18, once he recovers from his injury he will be an asset on the practice court but hopefully will see playing time early to do large leads.

I wasn't aware that Trey ran the 400. That's impressive for 6'9"/235. His frame looks like it can carry 260 as his body matures. I'm one of T-Mac's believers. I think he's the steal of the '11 class much like Craft in the '10 class.

What type of injury dud he gave and do you know how long he's supposed to be out?

Perry Carter was a beast - he's still in the top-10 in career scoring at OSU, and he scored more points than any of the great Buckeyes that played 3+ years (Turner, Diebler, Lighty, Dials, etc.) within the last 10 years. The only guy that really came after him to pass him on that list is Redd (JJ played alongside him for 2/3 of his seasons). So if he's a poor man's Carter, he's going to get at least 1,000 career points, eh?

Not really that much to take from the video as half of it is warming up before the game. Two things I did like is his shooting stroke looked very solid and the play where he went up and got a rebound and in the air as the defense came to him he dished it to a teammate. Shows nice awareness. I still think he's not going to get off the bench this year, but given his size, movement and work ethic, he definitely has potential.

Carter averaged around 12 points a game in his career with nothing much more than tenacity in the paint. Not actually much of an offensive game to speak of. He was pretty much the same player his first and last days on campus. Not to mention, Carter's real greatness was on the glass. So, it's more of a comparison stylistically than anything else. And yes, I think he can develop into a nice contributor in a few years.

Still though, with this being the first real footage that I've saw of Trey, I was also very impressed with his shooting stroke and all-around coordination and athleticism. He looks like a baller. I don't think he'll get much PT this year either, but he looks to be a much better prospect than I expected just by watching that short clip. He is burried on the depth chart right now but with his size to play Center, and style if game to play PF, he will find some PT a year or so down the line.

I'm not going to get carried away with the video, he just impressed me SI much with the physicality of his body make-up and coordination. Plus, if Matta wanted him , I'm sure the kid's got some game.

He does remind me of Othello Hunter in that video. Same body and same type of athlete. But I think he could be a better shooter, and player. He gets off the floor effortlessly. I guess it will all depend on basketball intelligence, knowing where the ball is going to come off the rim, etc...

No one can really tell from that video.

The roster released last week had T-Mac listed at 6'8"............No recruiting service that i saw ever had him listed lower than 6'9"............He's probably a year away from contributing anyways but has anyone on campus seen Trey yet? If so, is he a big dude? He looks like it in his highlight reels.:osu:
