To be fair.......Conley was not a lottery pick until the NCAA tournament and then he exploded.......at this time last year, almost everyone agree Conley needed another year.........it is early in the season for KK. Lets see what the next few months brings.

Good point. It is early.

A good idea but all three players do not really have a post game.....

I agree, but at some point you have to at least try to establish a post game to keep the defense honest. People talk about balanced offenses in football all the time. The same principles apply in basketball as well. When your best offensive set over the past two games has been the pick and pop to Terwilliger, it is time to change it up a bit.

I am anxious to see what Matta brings to the table against Tenn.

but at least he was showing some improvement game by game. I am sorry I just don't see that from KK

KK is struggling because he is taking himself out of the offense...Everytime he catches and shoots his little 12-15 foot jumper it goes down...His best game is between the 3 line and not on the block...

He is effective on the block, if he doesnt try to beat guys with strength but more finessee with his hook shots and turn arounds where he is using the glass...

I am not saying that KK is an adequate 3 point shooter, b/c I do believe that he can knock them down with consistency, but I don't think him out there is helping our offense...I would like to see some of the pick n pops turn into 15 foot jumpers and 1 on 1 match ups with smaller guys which we had last night that Butler never took advantage of...

The thing I think KK needs to understand is where he is best on the court, and helps the team out the most, it isnt that he can't knock down the jumpers he is taking, but also when he is on the inside he can also help on the offensive boards, and get some easy putbacks, but that isnt the case when the long 3's go up and he is hanging around the arc...

We might as well play 4 guards all the time if we are going to do that...

simply put as i stated earlier, post game-ok, mid range game-good, perm game he disengages.

simply put, at certain points kof takes shots outside of the offense. something that is ok, this is a fine line. i think hes walking on the wrong side forcing bad shots. kof needs to realize that if he passes the ball and work hard again he can get better looks and easier looks.

lots to talk about on many of the players, maybe soon ill let em have it in a full out rant on bp...

Koufos at times looks to have all the skills on the offensive end to dominate and then at times he vanishes......the fact he sat on the bench for the final 7 minutes of the MSU game gives me the impression his effort is not what Matta wants. I can live with a player not making shots or turning the ball over if their level of effort is there.......I think at times he has not played hard on top of playing smart basketball.

I just think he is a little soft and guys in the NBA will push them around quite a bit. I think another year of college would help him considerably.

Who cares about being soft in the NBA? Hello the NBA is FULL of soft players.....

And guys with his skill set AND him being over 7 feet tall is pretty damned rare....

Who cares? Lets see how about people who watch games and have an idea of what they are talking about. No dude the NBA is not "FULL" of soft players with finesse games who can be rattled easily in the head, especially at the positions he will be asked to play. You don't have to break your back over stretching to make a point. People act like Kosta won't be asked to rebound, bang down low and get to the foul line, even if he plays this "magical" 4 spot that supposed to transform him into a balla. This is basic ish that he struggling with in the Big Ten,an average conference right now.(yes i'm well aware that he's a freshmen)

I don't care how finesse your game is,if you're 7 feet tall you will be asked to play down low from time to time, and right now Kosta doesn't have the physicality and mindset to do this, and we are just talking about the Big Ten. imo you haven't been watching to easily dismiss this. It will come in time,it took Dirk some years to get a mindset to play inside in the NBA.

Even with his shortcomings that will surely be beaten to death..Kosta's biggest problem right now is his head. Confidence is just about everything in high level basketball, and he doesn't seem to have it. If you watch those Greek clips you can see that Kosta knows he's the best player on the court. Conversely, watch that game in east lansing and it's hard to tell if he knows what his role is on his own team. Getting that moxy back is a step in the right direction, coming back for another year is a bigger step. I hope he bounces back in Knoxville.

I'd like to see KK stop shooting those erratic looking balls. Sometimes he'll throw the ball at the hoop in these awkward looking positions, not squared up, and not actually looking at the flight of the ball. He needs to get back to fundamentals IMO. Look at the basket, line up the hoop, and shot the ball. He's still a great shooter, but he just needs to be smart about his selection.

I hope he comes back next year because his low post game is what I think needs to be worked on.

For once, KK started playing like the player I had anticipated seeing since the beginning of the season. Well, at least at the beginning of the second half. I don't know why we got away from him. I think his endurance might be pretty low because I don't think Matta would have taken him out when he was playing so well in the second half. I wish he would play closer to the basket more often.

It was interesting to hear Kellogg say that KK will play the 4 position next year alongside BJ Mullins. Maybe Clark knows something that we are wishing.

everyone calm down, its still early

I've hung back the last few months and viewed everyones comments, some make no sense and most are on point. I talk to Kosta everyday and he still doesnt no where he will be playing at the end of the year. The problem is not his confidence nor is it his lack of effort. The problem is he is the best player on the court the majority of the games the buckeyes will be playin this year and Matta isn't recognizing that. He starts the game and exits 4 to 5 minutes later and please tell me how anyone for that matter is suppose to get into any type of flow when your the starter/man and you have only averaged 22 minutes out of 40 the last 10 games. He is barely playing half the game. Matta is not using him properly. Kosta is frustrated. You as a coach are supposed to recognize who your best player is and work the offense around him. Meaning Koufos and Butler. Work the 2 man game a little. Stop using the best player on the team to set up picks. The problem is not Kosta, its Matta. Matta has Oden fresh in his mind from last year and is trying to use Kosta the same way and its not working. They are nothing a like. The only comparison is that they are 7 footers. Thats it.
The season is barely half way threw and im hoping Matta figures it out for my cousin. Thanks everyone and talk to you soon. Dino Alevras
