I don't follow the week to week vagaries of ucla football but I tuned in there towards the end and I didn't need the announcers to tell me whose kid that was.

The blame for where the football program finds itself in has to begin with the BOT.
The BOT from the first days after the grand jury Sandusky report has done perhaps irreparable damage to the university. In this case a football coach who regardless of his team's performance holds all the cards and unless he chooses to leave on his own cannot be removed from his position.
To their credit, nobody entertains the stupidity.

was that so many of these vets returned, because none of them except for Allen has been worth a damn and, after the Oregon loss, appears that they’ll just go through the motions to collect a paycheck. After PSU lost to Navy in 1967, Paterno benched a bunch of starters and played young...
Patented Paterno whitewashing. In their minds he was a mastermind that always played the correct players at the correct time. Reality? The guy NEVER played underclassmen.
