Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

That thread reminds me of things parents say to their kids....

When it's everyone else who has the problem, maybe it's time to look at yourself.

Everyone thinks you're a douchelozzle.

Who is KnoxHarrington?

It is the response because other explanations do not fit their narrative, which goes something like this:

1. Paterno knew everything about Sandusky

2. Paterno was also omnipotent: He instructed everyone to cover it up. All to protect his glory.

3. (This is a bonus for the hardcore haters - that Paterno was involved or complicit in a child exploitation ring run out of Second Mile)

So that only gets you mad at Paterno. Why punish the University? Because they deserve it.

4. The reason that PSU fans don't accept 1-3 is because they are a cult that cannot see simple truths.

5. This cult is the result of a poisonous culture festering in State College.

6. The poisonous culture needs to be eradicated. Some advocate shutting down football. Some advocate bulldozing the entire university.

Anything you try to do to undermine any piece of that house of cards will get you flamed. Trust me. I think it is because deep down, people know that what is going on isn't right and they do not want to have to face it.

That last part takes the cake.

The NCAA ain't messing around:

The NCAA today selected former U.S. Senator George Mitchell as the independent Athletics Integrity Monitor at Penn State.

Mitchell?s five-year appointment begins immediately.

As Athletics Integrity Monitor, Mitchell will evaluate Penn State?s compliance with NCAA sanctions and the Athletics Integrity Agreement it will execute with the NCAA and the Big Ten Conference.

He will have broad access to the campus, personnel and records and can make any recommendations he believes are necessary for the university to comply with all of its requirements and enhance adherence to NCAA and Big Ten principles, values, ethics and rules.
