Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

It's not going to be that easy for a lot of current players to transfer before this season. Most teams are already at their scholarship limits for this season. Sure, the SEC guys might find a couple more medical hardships to create a spot or two. But most PedState players are simply not good enough for another team to go to that much trouble. Best opportunity for nearly all current players will probably be to treat this season as tryouts for the rest of their career.

I'm guessing there are some MAC schools who would be willing to talk to them. As JWins mentioned earlier, there ain't a lot of talent in the cupboard anyway, so upper level teams aren't going to beating their doors down.

Heard it alot last night as things began to leak and on Sportscenter right before press conference (and now on Colin in a discussion with Fowler, though the exact phrase hasn't been used it's what they're talking about)

Maybe it's just their "C" guys on ESPN3 reporting the news and not being worried about having to make the news.

The lone Ped State nut on my Facebook who seems to be having issues coming to grips with things this entire time weighs in...BTW this person has one of those stupid goddamn crying lion avatars from when Pedterno died.

Love these boys!!! We bleed blue and white! I don't care if I am the only fan in the stands this season, I will be there to show my support to these players who are suffering for the acts of one sleezy bastard, the university that made me who I am today, and show my support for the victims of these awful events. WE ARE PENN STATE and we will be back stronger than ever!

Per Pete Thamel from the New York Times ‏@PeteThamelNYT

"I asked if NCAA sanctioned schools like OSU and USC can go over scholarship limit to take PSU transfers. NCAA hasn't worked that out yet."

I don't think either team is looking at Penn State's current roster for players. They will count next year, and both teams already have their recruiting boards full. That leaves Seniors, and I am not sure either team is looking to take on a new player that is looking to start right away. Especially at Ohio State where there is no bowl, so it will be much better developing in house talent than bringing in a 1 year player.

Current recruits on the other hand are a different matter.

Better load the schedule with 1-aa teams.
Because now football is the only thing people can think of? That cultural line of thinking is what landed us where we are now in the first place.

Someone at Audibles got the message

I will be watching with glee on the 1st of September when Frank Solich takes on PSU.

C'mon Frankie!!!

Depending on the amount of transfers Ohio will probably be favored by 7+ points AT Penn State???

Dang, I'd rather play them at full strength, upset them as a victory for all the Penn State haters.

I'm waiting for the background stories to begin to emerge-- Emmert talked about the primacy of the academy, but I'm guessing that behind closed doors there were more than few academy voices stating that their loss of revenue for something Penn State did was too great. "Don't kill the program that helps feed our program."
