Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

https://www.wtae.com/article/state-...and-condition-of-joe-paterno-statue/40373960#

Some nerd in the Pennsylvania Senate has decided that knowing the condition of the statue is more important than the school getting its funding. He attached that amendment to a bill that provides $242 million to Penn State, and millions more to Pitt, Temple, and Lincoln University. Basically, "Tell us where the statue is and its condition, or you don't get your moolah." The bill passed the senate and has been introduced to the House.

How great would it be if they really, truly don't know where it is? "We stuck it in Storeroom 58F in 2012, and it's gone. Someone must have stolen it." The state calls their bluff, and doesn't pay, and all those schools lose their funding. Ha.

I'm 100% sure Minnesota is the White Out game because they want a White Out game they can win.

Also, it's about time the shoe is on the other foot. When was the last time the Penn State game in Columbus was a night game? 2015?

Nah.....they like it being against their hardest opponent. They think it gives them an edge. It's Minnesota because ours can't be a night game. Boo fuckin hoo.

"Franklin sucks!"
"No he doesn't, you do!"
"No, you do!"
First off, I am pretty much in lock step with ShoreLion. The Big Ten era has not been good, though I would argue we were the best team in the league from 05 to 10. I would caveat that with stating with absolute certainty, that the Big Ten conference was the best league in the country from 1993 until 2010 and it has been the best league many times since. What should Penn State be? In my opinion, trying to out Ohio State as Franklin does every year is idiotic. Ohio State is essentially an SEC school playing by SEC rules. With that said, under Dantonio, Sparty was up to the task for the first half of the previous decade and produced the two best teams the Big Ten produced and the best team nationally (2013) during the decade. That is the model. Essentially Iowa, with Penn State talent which is mostly what we did from 2005 to 2009. We may not compete for the Big Ten every year given the fact that Ohio State plays by different rules, but the approach does work. If we could get the right coach in, we could compete for a Big Ten title every 3/4 years and have a shot at the national championship about every 4. Essentially Joe's plan, which is still viable while graduating players and keeping them out of the news for bad reasons. Sadly, we have 8 years of data conclusively indicating that Franklin is not the coach. With Franklin, I would hope we stay within spitting distance of Michigan State and Michigan and ahead of Rutgers, Maryland and Indiana.

A bunch to dissect with this post.
1. Best team in the league from '05 to '10? But they were 2-3 against Ohio State in those years. In 2006, their coach pooped in more pants than the number of touchdowns they scored against Ohio State. How many pick-6's did Penn State throw in that time? I award this dude 0 points for that claim.
2. Not sure I buy that the Big Ten was the best league in the country from 1993 to 2010. But I won't go into any research on that.
3. He gets 0 points from me on the "SEC school playing by SEC rules" comment. It's a lame claim with no supporting evidence.
4. "Sparty was up to the task for the first half of the previous decade" (I'm guessing he means 2011-2015) "and produced the two best teams the Big Ten produced, and the best team nationally (2013)." Sparty came out with 1 Big Ten championship in that time - 2013, and I'm not buying that that team was the best team nationally. They beat Ohio State fair and square - no excuses. But I'm not sure they were much better than Ohio State, if any. What other year did Michigan State produce the best team in the conference? 2010? Maybe he means 2010-2014. Yeah - 0 points.
5. Again, another jab at Ohio State for playing by "different rules". 0 points.
6. Compete for the Big Ten title every 3-4 years. Fair enough. If that's what you want to define as success, then sure, maybe the right coach can get you there. 1 point.
7. Compete for a national championship every 4 years. Meh. I don't buy this one. I suppose if you have the right coach, you can get there. Fine - 1 point.
8. "Joe's plan". HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! 0 points. What coach out there DOESN'T want his players to graduate and stay out of the news for the wrong reasons? I'm not buying that this was Paterno's goal and he's the one who should get the credit.
9. 8 years of data showing that Franklin is not the coach. Fair. 1 point.
10. "I hope..." meh - you don't get points for hoping.

I give this poster 3 points.

My personal comment on Franklin, I agree with whoever it was here who said that Franklin only still has his job at Penn State because of the blocked field goal in 2016.

TL, DR - Fuck *ichigan

Ha. These guys are so weird.

So some dude started a twitter account to apparently just post replays of cool Penn State plays. Alright, no problem. The one the OP linked was a blocked punt recovered in the end zone against Ohio State? 2nd quarter in a scoreless game. When was that? Well, full house white out, so it wasn't 2020. It wasn't 2018 - I remember Penn State scoring the first 13 points because Ohio State couldn't stop McSorely from running the ball. No defensive points in that game. Maybe 2016? I had to look it up. No. Ohio State scored the first 12 points in that game. 2014? No - Ohio State scored the first 17 points in that game. 2012? Yep. They're celebrating a play in a loss. Ohio State won that game 35-23. (Remember Miller's acrobatic short run into the end zone? It was that game.)
This would be like us celebrating... um... I had to think about a big play in a loss. Like Ginn's kickoff return against Florida in the championship game. Yeah - great play, but I don't want to watch anything from that game.
