Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

No prizes for guessing how many posts before uncle Jerry is brought up (and not in a "we're so embarrassed by that" way).

OHIO STATE WILL ADVANCE TO BIG TEN FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

Decision was Voted on by the Big Ten Conference Administrators Council and Made in Collaboration with the Big Ten Presidents and Chancellors and the Big Ten Conference

The Big Ten Conference Administrators Council, which includes the Directors of Athletics and Senior Women Administrators from all 14 member institutions, voted today to eliminate the minimum-game requirement for participation in the 2020 Big Ten Football Championship Game. The decision was made in collaboration with the Big Ten Council of Presidents and Chancellors and the conference office.

That's all folks: https://bigten.org/news/2020/12/9/ohio-state-will-advance-to-big-ten-football-championship-game.aspx

Just sayin': It would be interesting to know how Penn State voted on this issue; but apparently it was a closed door secret vote. I have no idea how Penn State voted, but if the cult heard that the Penn State President (Eric Barron) supported the issue they be torching his house by now:

I'm picking this post for convenience, not because it's the only one that illustrates my point.

I have no problem with this decision because OSU is clearly the best team. But if Penn State had beaten OSU this year and had no losses but only 5 games played and OSU's loss was only to PSU but had at least 6 games in, no way they move to let PSU into the championship game.

I've seen this kind of logic on Penn State boards, Indiana boards, M*ch*gan boards, and Northwestern boards. Maybe even on an A&M board, too. Maybe on this board, too. But there's never any evidence that the Big Ten would act the way you so confidently state they would act. There's no precedence for this. Everyone loves to play the victim. "My life here is so tough, no one loves me!"

Penn State fans like to point to 2016 and how the Big Ten put Ohio State in the playoffs over Penn State. They don't understand that the Big Ten doesn't choose playoff teams. Penn State got in the championship game over Ohio State, fairly, and winning that game was the closest Penn State got to getting into the playoffs. So this is completely different from 2016. But if Penn State was in Ohio State's position, we have no way to know the Big Ten wouldn't change a stupid rule.

There are like 3 or 4 rational people on that board. I don't like that. Not a bit.

The B1G would absolutely do the same thing for any of their teams in this situation. To say otherwise is just being a fucking idiot.
Well we are talking about the state penn cult, being a fucking idiot is practically a prerequisite.

My favorite posts I've seen from multiple fan bases are the ones that say something like: it makes sense, osu is the better team, won head to head, and the b1g leadership were idiots to think they could play 9 games in 9 weeks. BUT rules are rules and I hate osu so I want them left out.

I do see their point that the whole Sandusky thing had absolutely ZERO to do with the football program.

Sandusky coached lacrosse when he was there didn't he? And used the LaX facilities to lure his kids in? All while the head lacrosse coached looked the other way.

Which is why their whole athletic department should have been expunged from the face of the Earth....

t doesn't matter that they played a pathetic half-schedule of five games, four of them against teams with a combined 8-18 record. Because everyone knows. By this logic they really didn't to play a game. After all, everyone knew.

And one of those pathetic teams was Penn State. :slappy:

I love the "schedule" argument. OSU played a conference-only schedule. Penn State was ranked as high as #8, no? And Michigan is perennially (over-) rated, then a surprising Indiana, an MSU squad that's giving them fits over the years, plus a supposed rejuvenated Nebraska team. No one would guess that would turn out to be an easy schedule.
