Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

Well he recruits like a rock star. Except in PA.....that's a tough state to crack into.

The PA players may have the benefit of knowing what a sick cult it is while out-of-state players have to find out for themselves, I guess.

I'll always respect BOB for keeping this program breathing when things could have been much, much worse.

The 2012 Iron Lions was a team for the ages. Credit first and foremost to kids like Mauti and Zordich, but BOB deserves a hell of a lot of credit. He kept the program from falling apart completely, and CJF came in and brought it back to the life. It was the perfect combination. Two men who were absolutely right for the moments in which they took over this program.

So, no ill will on my part.

He's no MATT RHULE, though upload_2020-9-22_10-54-40.gif

Well, they DID put it up on their " Ring of kinda pretty good years that didn't totally suck"

Well yeah..... I mean, late in that mediocre season, their best player died heroicly on the field fighting for mighty PedState! They wore his number on their helmets for a game or two to honor his memory.... Of course they put that year in the ring of pretty good years....

Wait, what?..... Really?! No way.......

I've just been told that he did not in fact die, but actually just kinda hurt his knee... He's totally fine now..... He just missed a game or two..... it was really no big deal at all - which makes the whole number on the helmet thing really, really lame.

Nothing proved that the sick cult learned nothing better than treating an 8-4 team with more reverence than Nebraska has for their 95 team, when said 8-4 team’s only real accomplishment was playing football in a year that should have been year one of their death penalty.

That wasn’t the only proof that they had learned nothing. They proved their utter depravity over and over. And they were rewarded with an easing of the sanctions that were not nearly harsh enough according to anyone with a shred of decency.

They are not a rival. Rivalry requires respect, if only a respect for the rival’s history. If this were only about football, my attitude toward the cult would be amusement at their scUM level arrogance with even less basis for it. This is not just about football. They did real harm. Their culture’s effect on the world has been monstrous and is likely still going and still spreading, as the abused so often grow up to be abusers.

The only reason that anyone outside of that cult would send their son into that cesspool is that they don’t know how much the culture there is to blame for how long the crimes were allowed to continue. Never let the world forget what that place was and still is.

I don’t understand why we keep railing on their accomplishments.
