Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

https://247sports.com/Bolt/College-GameDay-announces-Week-8-location-108930999

Gameday will be in Happy Valley next week. I bet we will see some pretty good signs next week. And they won't be funny in the way the sign writers intend. We'll be laughing AT you, Penn State fans - not WITH you.

I started this in the Gameday thread, but this is going to point funny fingers at the cult.

https://bwi.forums.rivals.com/threads/keep-it-classy-psu.187677/

With GameDay showing up. The best way to exact any type of payback is to be classy, respectful, and welcoming. It’s the Penn State way. Act like you been there! That will go much further than the opposite reaction no matter how badly we all want to “stick it to the man”. Show them We are! Not We were.... please no Paterno or 409 signs. This is not the time. It’s all about today, CJF, and this years team.
Making signs about the #1 coach in college football history with the most wins is not classy? ESPN hasn't been to State College since he won that record and you rip fans for wanting to celebrate his and the school's achievement? Give me a break
Pretty torn about this. After everything they did to bury this school, my hate for ESPN and Desmond Howard is real. But I find myself wondering, "What Would Joe Do?" Also contemplating Coach Franklin's position, and that of current players, students and recruits.
I agree with the OP. Having a bunch of Paterno signs, classy or otherwise, just feeds into the narrative that we’re a bunch of JoeBot cultists. He’s not the coach anymore. This is about CJF and this years team.

Ha - this thread will be fun to watch.

One of the most meteorific of meteor games next Saturday. Will be rooting for the weasels to rip out whatever passes for their demented hearts, but I expect the wretched Pedsters will wipe the field with them.

Lately I've been rooting for Michigan to win, and for there to be some silly excuse by the Penn State fans. And the game should be totally pathetic by the Michigan team. A few years ago was perfect. I think it was in Michigan, and Penn State wasn't doing anything offensively. They were down about 4-5 points and kicking off. (Did they just purposely give up a safety so they didn't have to punt from deep in their own territory?) They went for the onside kick and their tight end was offisides. Despite a great screenshot proving he was offside, Penn State fans use it as proof he WASN'T offsides (along with a shot from almost head-on and from the overhead blimp) and complain that the refs stole that from them. Michigan looked terrible in not even scoring 20 points, and the fans were down on their team. Despite doing pretty much nothing offensively for the entire second half, Penn State's fans insisted that the game was stolen from them. Beautiful.

A close second was the year before, when Penn State won in 4 overtimes. Both teams looked like bunkbunk bunk-poopers. But then Penn State won.

People....Penn State isn't wiping the field with Michigan. They may very well win.....but Michigan isn't going to roll over and let them go all Ohio State Nebraska on them.

Kinda hoping scUM gets away with 3 or 4 calls that should be considered targeting. Can't believe I just said that...bad taste and all.

How about this: Penn State gets hit with 3-4 targeting calls that resemble the one Ward got hit with? No one has to get hurt. Penn State gets angry, more outrage around the country that it's a terrible rule, despite its intentions, and Penn State gets angry.

Watching the Nebraska game again, there were a few calls against Nebraska that I could see that they should be angry about. For instance, in the first drive, Campbell got hit just as he caught the pass. Ref said he's down before dropping the ball, which I don't disagree with. But its close enough that the Happy Valley would explode if it happened to their team. Then they got called for holding later that I don't see, but it negated a big run. Maybe I'm not looking in the right spot. Anyway, neither of these issues plus a dozen more would be enough to change the outcome of the game, to any reasonable human, but Penn State would want to tear down the Big Ten's office and claim the refs have it in for them - "those plays set the tone for the entire game!" Are Nebraska fans whining about that? The ones I've seen/heard from seem to think (or know) Ohio State could have put another 3 touchdowns on the board, and thanks Urban Meyer for being classy.

It'd be really nice knocking off the #2 ranked PSU team next weekend in Columbus. Plus, watching that bumble[censored] idiot Harbaugh lose never gets old.

I root for Michigan about one time a year - this game. But their loss in this game is almost as good.
