Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

I was driving east on 76 towards Youngstown with a friend (visiting for the first time) and a sign comes along "Youngstown 30 miles, New York City 300 miles" (or whatever the specific numbers are) and his comment was "man, this is the middle of nowhere." My response was "no, that sign just means that Pennsylvania sucks ass."

Exactly. LOL.

Interestingly, you do know why there is a Youngstown 30 Miles and NYC 300 (or whatever) on the same sign... and as much as PA sucks ass, that's not the real reason.

Yeah - I used to have to drive to some dinky town just north of State College about once a year. I bet if I think about it hard enough I could come up with a name, but it doesn't matter. Anyway, it was basically drive and drive and drive and drive and you never see anything. Nothing changes. It'd be like driving from Cincy to Cleveland and then back to Cincinnati, except there's no Columbus and no Cleveland and no other cities on the way. And the State College area is the same way - nothing. That's one reason I laugh when BWI posters (maybe they're all trolls?) call Columbus a cowtown. Maybe they wish they could get some cows?

My dad's friends from when I was a kid would call Columbus a cow town for years before I had ever visited. I didn't know any better....I assumed it was just farms and shit. And then I went there. And then I went to a game at Penn State where we literally parked in a cow field.

And thus the seed of my Penn State hatred was planted.

1. Do the posters on that forum read each other's posts? How many times do I find similar posts right after each other? And this is the second thread I saw about this. But that's not what I meant to laugh at...
2. Thread is about how JoePa was offered a position with the Patriots in 1982, but he turned it down. One courageous dingus posts an article by some other dingus saying that if he had accepted the position, those kids probably wouldn't have been molested. Of course, he's right - who else would have let Jer-Bear go with what was most humane?
3. I'm a little surprised that the article didn't make a majestic explosion.
