Talking about their favorite "tough" opponents that they (Penn State) beat. OP states games that he saw in person. Of course, 2005 Ohio State makes everyone's list. I just love the "we're back" part. And the fact that 2001 is on that list is funny. Ohio State lost 4 other blargin' games that year - how were they a "tough" opponent?
And now that I look at OP's list, I'm thinking he's a goofball.
Nebraska '82 - greatest game ever at Beaver Stadium, '02 - maybe the loudest game ever at Beaver Stadium
Michigan '95 Snow Bowl, '08 - blowout payback losing streak ends, '10, '13 4 OT game
Wisconsin - '97, '12 OT in very cold conditions
Michigan State - '00, '02 LJ, '04, '06
Ohio State - '01 #324, '05 We're back!!!!
Iowa - '07
Northwestern - '10 #400
Michigan - "Snow Bowl"? GTFO. And 2008? The year Michigan won 3 games??? Great "tough" opponent there.
Wisconsin in 2012 - congratulations: you beat a 4-loss team. Maybe 5 losses. I guess Wisconsin went on to win the Big Ten championship, anyway. Meh.
Michigan State - Before maybe 2010, they were Michigan State. Perennial 4-loss team. You get no credit for any of those games.
And Northwestern - outside of 1995-1996, and maybe a couple of other years, they absolutely do not count as "tough".
As far as being "back", here's a list of the number of losses starting with 2005:
1, 4, 4, 2, 2, 5, 4, 4, 5, 6, 6. Average = 3.9 losses per year.
Yeah, yeah, but... SANCTIONS!!! So take out 2012 and on. 3.1 losses per year.
Ohio State in that same timeframe:
2, 1, 2, 3, 2, 1, 7, 0, 2, 1, 1. Average = 2.0 losses per year.
Ok, SANCTIONS!!! Take out 2011. Meh. Or not. F that. We have as many losses (22) in those 11 years, total, as they do if they can cherry-pick the best 7-year stretch.
