Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

When I went to reply to this clown (it was 'gunboat', not 'Southeastern PA Buck Hunter', so I corrected your quote), I got this...

Shocking, I know...
When I went back last nite to see if anybody else had replied to your posts, I saw that Tommy Boy had nuked all of your posts, but didn't delete the replies to them, including ones calling you out by name. What a bunch of maroons!!

Southeastern PA Buck Hunter: "Of course you omit 1994 where we were the best team in the history of college football only to be denied due to midwestern inbred voters that didn't like Joe or SUCCESS WITH HONOR. Then 2005 where the B1G cheated us out of another title at Michigan by giving them additional time. We would have trucked U$C or Texas in that title game. Then there is 1968 & 1969. Robbed by politicians."
The same Texas team that beat us at our place on prime-time national TV, with one of the greatest QBs of all-time, would get trucked by the Ped State team that barely beat us at their place in a fucking monsoon. Right. And USC would've ape-fucked Ped State...

That thread is awesome. "lionlurker" starts a thread to whine that the rest of the country treats the Pedsters like freaks. The very first reponse to such pitiful whining ends with "You can thank Joe for not going to the cops."

The Cult then proceeds to ravage the poster suggesting it was Joesus' fault. And why is it again that the rest of the country views the Pedsters as a cult?

It's been a while since I've seen that discussion pop up over there, but they believe that their 7-point win over Ohio State was more impressive than Texas's 3-point win over Ohio State. I've noticed that when it is convenient for fans of all teams, the transitive property is very useful. (Not useful at all when it doesn't help their teams.) Anyway, people can argue which win was more impressive all they want - I'm not interested. But that's how it is.

But I definitely agree that Texas vs. USC was the right matchup for that game. No other teams belonged in the argument for that game.

And I didn't see the play live, but I saw it on replay and, even with my anti-Michigan bias, I said they absolutely should have those 2 seconds back. I've since found the game on youtube - the original broadcast - and I can't find the shot that convinces me that they should get 2 seconds. Anyway, that might be my favorite whine-session to watch over there: the B1G officials screwed us again! I remember that they complained about so much stuff in 2013, when Ohio State said "Bit down on a pillow, because we're coming in dry," and then they did exactly that. There was a high block by an OSU lineman on a defensive player - they thought it should have been "targetting". There was a time when an OSU defensive player lost his helmet - they thought it should have been 15 yards because he continued to play. There was a play where an OSU running back (or maybe receiver) was trying to reach over the pylon to score a touchdown, but was pushed out of bounds. The call on the field was touchdown, but they reviewed it and they marked him down at the 1, or something. There was no good camera angle that showed that he was out before the touchdown. I was OK with it, because I think it was the right call, but by the rules, I didn't think they could take away the touchdown. I guess the PSU goobs thought he should have been marked out more like the 2 yard line. Anyway, I'm rambling. End.

One thing is for sure, they really have a hard on for the Buckeyes. OSU recruits blacks into slavery, whereas PSU recruits them to be free. I half expected the next line to be something about the white man's burden.

Then there's the persistent Tatgate is =/> failure to report child abuse. Gee Tom Sawyer, can I help you whitewash this fence?

PS, anyone seen anything about the Cleary investigation? The last report I saw was from August of 2014 when Penn State was given a warning regarding accreditation.

A couple of things from this thread that I thought about sharing:

If the Big Ten really wanted to make Penn State whole again, what steps would you need to see to be convinced that the Big Ten is acting in good faith?
[X] Reinstate Penn State's post-season eligibility
[X] Restore Penn State's bowl revenue share
[ ] Pay back all monies previously withheld from PSU's bowl revenue share. Might be willing to accept B1G paying back half.
[ ] Restore Joe Paterno's name to B1G Championship trophy. Might be willing to wait for CSS trials. Maybe.
[ ] Apologize for piling on a member institution when they should have acted as voice of reason.

Restore Joe Paterno's name to the trophy. I haven't yet heard a good reason why it was there in the first place. Since joining the Big Ten, Penn State has 3 conference championships. 3 in 19 years. Does that sound like something to commemorate with a name on a trophy? If there were 30 teams in the conference and one team won 3 times, and no one else won more than once, then MAYBE I could see naming it for that coach. But Jim Tressel won 7 championships in 10 years. Even if you take away the one, due to it being vacated, that's still twice as many as Penn State had. Heck, take away the 2 that Ohio State and Penn State shared, and Ohio State still has 1 more than Penn State had, in just over half the time.

Also, I've posted the in-conference results for all the teams since Penn State joined. Penn State had solidified their #3 spot at the time Joe Paterno was fired. As of the beginning of the 2014 season, Penn State was 0.015 points higher (win percentage) than Wisconsin. In 168 games, that equates to 2.5 wins. Penn State's average season is 5.05 wins, 2.95 losses (0.631). Wisconsin's is 4.86 wins, 3.00 losses, and 0.14 ties. Compare that to 5.33 wins, 2.67 losses for Michigan (0.667) and 6.29 wins, 1.67 losses, 0.05 ties for Ohio State (0.789). Yeah - that guy should get his name on a trophy.

---
Edit: I've added 2014 into my spreadsheet. Wisconsin has passed Penn State for #3 in the Big Ten (#4, if you include Nebraska, which I do).
0.798 Ohio State
0.688 Nebraska
0.653 Michigan
0.628 Wisconsin
0.614 Penn State
0.543 Michigan State
---

Second, so they start talking about if they left the Big Ten, all would be right.

Joe Paterno certainly believed there was a problem with officiating
which is why he and Joe Tiller pushed for instant replay.

Since when did any credit go to anyone outside of Penn State? All I've seen out of Penn State is that it was the mighty hand of Joesus to give them the gift of instant replay. Of course, outside of Penn State, all credit for the idea goes to the Michigan-Michigan State game where they gave Michigan State 1 extra second. (I guess that has been proven to be correct.)

You can't build a cult by introducing the possibility that someone else had a good idea too.

When adding up wins don't forget that Franklin and Buttchin Bob get credit for the last three years. As to why Paterno's name got there in the first place 1) The boys at corp. feel like they have to spread the glory around; like making that street thug Dave Winfield a part of the conference top 50 athletes, or putting Jesse Owens third behind Magic Johnson and Red Grange - as in show me what you've got beyond Milt Plum and Dick Butkus.

Yeah - I can buy that. But I don't agree with it. It's like the "You can't go to the Rose Bowl this year beacause you went last year" junk. Did any team get screwed out of a Rose Bowl trip and maybe a national championship because of that rule?

Count me in the group who never thought Joesus name belonged on the B1G coach of the year award, scandal or not.

When you think about B1G football coaches, the conversation begins and ends with Woody and Bo and the award should be named accordingly. Now, once you consider the fact that Ohio State coaches are ineligible to win said award, I think it should obviously be known as the Ferentz Coach of the Year award, since he seems to be in the running every year, no matter how many 7-6 seasons he can put together.

I don't think you can hold buckhunter against them. That guy has to be a troll.

The simple reason why Paterno got his name on the trophy with Stagg, is that both of them were head coaches at their respective schools for 40 years. Woody won't get his name on the trophy because of the 1978 Gator Bowl, and because Woody can't get on, they won't put Bo on either.
