I've seen on several sites (many different times) that a referee told a Penn State player in 2012 that he was lucky that they were still allowed to play football. I find this hard to believe, for several reasons. First, who says this? Do referees really say what they're thinking to the players? If so, I can withdraw this point. But it seems to me that the referees shouldn't let the issues like that affect the game. Of course, this point is right up the "Big Ten referees hate us" alley that Penn State is so fond of. Second, I can't find anything on the network when I search for "You're just lucky to be playing football Penn State". A bunch of stuff comes up from this year's game, but nothing from 2012. Third, and probably most importantly, I've heard at least three different accounts of the event. The cult can't agree which player was told that. They can't agree on the game or the situation.

So what I'm hoping is that someone knows something about this. Is there any substance to the rumor? As much fun as its been looking for something, only to find Penn State fans whining about the referees, I've got to spend some time yelling at kids.

So you're saying that the cult just created some bullshit out of thin air to fit their narrative and bounced it around the echo chamber until it became FACTS! and EVIDENTS? I find that hard to believe.

I do believe it happened, but they're so caught up in 2 things that has muddied who it was said to, and when.
1) They deify the shit out of every average fuck who plays for them. All they can remember about the player was that he was super human....and when you have so many super human players all at once, it's hard to remember which one specifically. In this case, they get it confused between dearly departed Michael Mauti, and the QB that all other QBs strive to be Matt McGloin.
2) They get screwed by the refs so often, and they magnify each ref screw job into such great proportions...they can't keep straight which ref screw job was the one that produced the quote "you're lucky to even be playing". In this case they claim it was either the call against Nebraska where their player likely scored, but it was called a fumble.....or the holding no-call on Mauti (RIP) against us, where Braxton undressed about 8 of their players with a single juke and score.

I believe the actual story was that it was said to McGloin, and it wasn't on either of those plays. More likely a play with much less significance. Of course....then you have to take McGloin's word for it, and he seems like exactly the little shit that would make it up to fire the team up at halftime.

Love it. But if you ask BWI, Ohio State had 170 scholarship players available for that game, while Penn State had three scholarship players, a waterboy and a goat farmer that lives near the stadium, so it doesn't really count.

Lets just assume for a minute this guy truly believes this.

Think of the raw stupidity involved in spending time on a message board, rooting for a team and generally caring at all about a sport you honestly think is fixed.
