Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

Given some of the language in the letter, it's hard to believe it's not a hoax:

I agree. Lots of straight news sources picked this up as legit, but sections of that letter seem like they would be written for a recruit as opposed to a season ticket holder. I read in one of the articles that the letter "fell into the hands" of John Ziegler, who then leaked the letter to the media. That right there gives me pause to wonder how legit the letter is.

The offer for Jerry to attend a PSU basketball game was completely uncalled for, however. The guy is a convicted pedophile in prison for the rest of his life. There's no need to torture him on top of that by subjecting him to PSU basketball.

I think that's what they were going for. They're treating fans as if they were highly sought after football recruits.

I'm not so sure. If anyone could enjoy the spectacle of a group of men putting it to a group of smaller, virtually defenseless boys for 40 minutes, it would be the Jer Bear.

Uh, pick a year after the B-Ball Bucks haven't dropped two games to them.

Ok delany, time to earn you money. Make sure state penn is the team left out.
Hey look....one more reason to beat Wisconsin.
If No. 13 Wisconsin beats No. 5 Ohio State in the Big Ten championship game, it's possible the Big Ten could have three teams -- Wisconsin, Ohio State and Michigan State -- in New Year's Six games, ensuring all of its eligible teams will go to a bowl.

Here is another one of those great fantasy threads from BWI in which the Pedsters predict the ultimate outcome of the scandal and how the rest of the world will view them in five or 10 years. Lots of wishing in one hand and Mark Maying in the other hand that the NCAA will be brought to its knees, but my favorite post in the thread is the guy who claims that Joesus tauight him that wins are not the ultimate goal. Competing with honor is the goal.

Oblivax: "Joe taught me that W's are a goal but not the ultimate goal. Effectively competing with honor is the goal. For the kids on the team, throw in educating them so that you can positively influence their lives is also in there."

PaRanger: "I really believe that people that have a moral sense of justice (and 1/2 a brain) will appreciate the TRUTH"

psuro: "As far as the general public - they will change with the wind. If the overwhelming media coverage is "Joe Paterno was set up by NCAA and members of the BoT to take the fall", then he will end up being a more sympathetic figure than anyone."

Victor E. Bell: "That is going to be difficult to say, as in 5 years we are unlikely to be anything close to a top ten in football. The conference officiating alone will continue to put Penn State at a sometimes insurmountable disadvantage in order to put certain teams over at our expense. That plays into the rankings automatically. "

robbrunskill: "Joe Paterno will not go down in history as the greatest coach in college football. He'll go down in history as the man who brought down the NCAA. Wick Sollers will have Emmert's head mounted in his den and Vickie Triponey will pursue an acting career portraying transgender former NFL tightends (no pun intended)."

Class of 67: "More than what others think, I want financial restitution from the NCAA, back bowl money from the BT, Paterno's wins restored, and a big apology. Some of those in the public will come over to our side as evidence is revealed, but the real haters probably won't change. I don't care about them."

harjeff: "the NCAA will be bankrupt after PSU, Paterno and PA are done with them. It can't happen to a better bunch."

91Joe95: "large chunks of money flowing to the aggrieved parties to drive home that point, Freeh's farce opened for all to see, and if we're lucky bot members sued for failing their fiduciary duties. Hopefully, the big 10 also gets a dose of harsh reality for what they did. At that point, I have little doubt that public perceptions will change."

It happens with regularity in both Florida and California.

Why can't a massive sinkhole develop under Happy Valley and just swallow these cretins once and for all?

Their relentlessness is exhausting. It's why I fear the NC2A may eventually fold and give them their way. I'm tired and I don't have to deal with them.

It's been evident for years now that they will never give up. Their very sense of self-worth is tied to the Paterno mythology. They can't move on. It would profoundly shatter their sense of who they are.

The beauty of this whole thing is that in their minds, everyone hates them because of what the NCAA said about them. Fact is, even if the sanctions are repealed, and the wins are restored, the Pedsters might be happy, but most people will still see Joesus and PedState for what it truly is. Nothing the NCAA ever says will change that. THAT is Joesus' true legacy.
