It's so much the run on first down, it's the WAY OSU does it. IT's obvious that they cannot get consistent yardage on first downs out of hte I formation. They should use it because it can be successful, but why aren't we seeing more pistol and other shotgun formations when they are obviously the most successful? Why is OSU trying to force a formation in there on every first down that just doesn't work.

OSU should be running the ball a lot and running more often than not on first down, but they aren't doing even an average job of putting their players in a position to succeed on first down.

THis year has been just plain frustrating. Unimaginative vanilla on offense, overmatched and confused on defense, and subpar special teams. Very disappointing. We could salvage a decent record, but this is a year to forget. Kind of like 1999. Damn, still haven't forgotten that year either. Oh well.
