Penn St +11.5 at Bama (ov/un 44.5) Sat 7 ET ESPN

I read some Alabama and Penn State boards and I am very impressed by the Alabama posters. Their discussion is not at all what I expected, and there was no S-E-C! chanting. They are on the whole very respectful of JoePa and Penn State and very reasonable in their assumptions about the game. Frankly, they probably predict a tighter game than we would, from what I've seen. This is all kinda neither here nor there, but I definitely respect their online fans much more now than I would have with my earlier prejudices.

I think the final score will be closer than the game. I can't imagine JoePa pulling Bolden in garbage time when there are valuable reps to be had. Then again, Saban's defense is also very young and he may have the same idea. Either way, I don't think State Penn has much of a chance. They're just too young and lack experience to stop 'Bama's offense, and their offense looked pathetic against Youngstown State.

I was not impressed by State Penn at all. Their defense looked pretty slow against YSU and they have a true frosh making his first road trip to a stadium full of 100,000 drunken hillbillies. That's a recipe for a blowout to me...

Youngstown St's QB, Kurt Hess, was 21/25 (84%!!!) with 2TDs and 0INTs against PSU's secondary.

Warm up the Julio Jones Heisman campaign, because PSU will not be able to cover him.

Coach Saban wants them to keep things respectable too.

Nick Saban is very opposed to booing Penn State - CBSSports.com

Great sportsmanship to be sure. However, this game is a 8:00pm kickoff. That's 6+ hours of serious drinking for the Bama fans. They'll be able to kill several handles of liqour and at least 4 Skynrd CD's in that time frame.

"0" chance they'll be welcoming or polite.

With the 24/1 odds on mentioning traveling to 3 BCS winners is too much to pass up!

That's anytime from the start of the coverage until they return back to the studio/network after the game, but it includes the halftime coverage.

This one looks like a blowout to me the more I think about it. Mostly because of PSU's lack of offensive line protection. Alabama may be missing one of their studs, but they are very talented and dare I say, fast, on the d line.
Should be interesting to see how this turns out if PSU can protect their QB. If they can do that, I feel they can at least hang in there.
