Paul Johnson to Georgia Tech

I'm pretty excited about it. Any coach that can beat Tressel is all right with me. Initial reports said Johnson will be rewarded with a 6 year contract for $14 Million (~$2.3 Million / year). There are a lot of people fussing in Atlanta about the amount of money we're offering given I financially strapped athletic program here at Georgia Tech. I for one am very excited though. The only excitement Tech football has brought the past couple years was with Calvin Johnson and against Auburn.

Welcome Johnson to the GT family.

The man is an excellent DC. I think he would be an improvement over Bo Pelini. Anytime you have a chance to improve yourself, I say you take it, regardless of what school they went o.

I fixed it for you!!

I will add though that is Tenuta is a great coach and it won't be long before he gets an HC job.

Just watched some Youtube videos of GTech's first Paul Johnson's Yellowjacket team.

I think their defense is amazing... or the offense is in deep doodoo.

But I love that a BCS team is using the old flexbone. Love it.

I have this self-serving theory that UVA will match up really well against Johnson's offense because of our 3-4 defense. More linebackers = more flexibility and more people to react to where the ball is instead of plugging gaps and hoping for the best. I have nothing to back that up or refute it, so I guess I'll find out on October 25. I always like the Georgia Tech game because they're usually just about as good as we are, so the GT game tends to be a good barometer for the season.

In any case I've always dug watching Navy because that offense is so much fun to watch, so I'm glad to see it come to the ACC.
