Authorities: Patriots' Marquise Hill's body found

NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- The body of New England Patriots player Marquise Hill was found Monday, a day after he was reported missing following a jet ski accident on Lake Pontchartrain.

Hill's body was discovered by searchers about a quarter of a mile from where the 24-year-old former LSU star and a female companion were involved in the accident, Capt. Brian Clark of the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Department said.

"We have suffered a stunning and tragic loss," Patriots coach Bill Belichick said in a written statement Monday evening. "Marquise will be remembered as a thoughtful and caring young man who established himself as one of the year-round daily fixtures of our team. I send my deepest condolences to the Hill family."

it's funny. hill's passing means little, but you continue to post here.

you're surprised that this is "big" news? were you born yesterday? engage that mass between your ears that you call a brain and recognize that the death of a young nfl player will always be news. consider it an immutable law... like you pointing out the obvious, donny playing dumb, or jeffcat confusing stupidity for logic.

by the way, this "big" story does not head yahoo's sports page. nor espn's. nor si's. nor cbs sportsline's. you'll find this news in the headlines; however, as of right now, it does not actually head any of the major internet sports pages.

That's too bad.

Oh great one, what is a more worthy topic of discussion?

I know you're just sticking the bait out there, and want someone to get really offended, but the reason it is a "big" story is because its simply a tragic death by someone so young (and not another "shot in a gang fight" story).

Will he be missed by the Patriots as far as an important part of their game plan? Probably not. As a human being? Absolutely.

Actually if somebody was shot by a gang that would be more tragic and more newsworthy. This guy died engaging in somewhat high risk activity. At least he wasn't a Yankee...then this would be breaking news on ESPN (witness Cory Lidle's death)

You honestly believe someone shot by a gang would be more tragic than this guy who died in a "somewhat high risk activity"? Jet-skiing over the Memorial Day Holiday weekend with friends and family? Seriously?

If Hill was shot by a gang, I can summize (maybe incorrectly?) that Hill had placed himself into a situation close to gang activity. More stupidity or else bad decision-related if you ask me in that case. High risk activity in anyone's book.

Jet-skiing was actually one of the options I had to choose not to partake in over this beautiful weekend, not so much because it was a "high risk activity." More like I had other "fun" stuff to do, and it didn't involve a 20 minute drive. I think it is much more tragic that Hill died in the manner that he did than the scenario you describe. We must just know two totally different worlds.

Josh Hancock died from his own choice to drink and drive... That was a high-risk activity, and very, very stupid... But his death was still very sad and tragic, and still newsworthy...
Any time a young life is lost it is tragic, and when it happens to be a young life from a stage that so many of us follow religiously (sports), then it is newsworthy...
